Camara deal to Chelsea is off!

********** "choo choo - choo choo" **********
The Andoni Iraola Express is leaving Lime Street Station this morning. Get on it now. This is ye last chance, doubters!
Ye wanted Barcola, done courtesy of Bhatia, ye wanted a DM to fill the hole. You now have 2 Gravy/Macca, Nyoni, Endo. We also now will have AM/False number nines Flo, Dom, Koumas, Chiesa. Barcola, Rio LW. Isak will no longer be like a Slot lamppost; he will be shoved out wide to compete with Gakpo, Munoz for RW. New AI formation 4-2-2-LW/RW (CF/CF low block)
The midfield will now be a four man box, two double pivots. We won't be playing goal hangers per se anymore. Isak will be expected to get a bit of sweat on his shirt. Andoni only wants workers not shirkers; earn ye corn, Isak.
VVD now will have alternatives: Leoni, Araujo, Jacket, Gomez, being a captain will no longer be a certain starter. AI wants 11 captains. Buck up, VVD. Kerkez, Tsimikas, Chambers for LB, options for RB: Frim, Bradley, Endo, Gomez, Araujo. Kerkez looks like too many homemade pies; he needs to be the shape/weight he was when in the PFA Team of the Year — lean and quick is what I see on old videos and a stone less. Hugo late next year to bring home the bacon?
"Choo Choo- Choo Choo" the AI express is leaving the station, all you doubters this is ye last chance, all the window views have been taken by us AI believers- "Choo Choo- Choo Choo"
YNWA 97 and 20.

Whatever... after all the discussion about enough contact, and Williams multiple times going over like he was shot, to have that pen given, is a travesty.
29 Aug 2026 17:27:49
Clear pen, mate.
29 Aug 2026 17:58:04
Have to say I felt it was a clear penalty. Poor defending cost us today, not the ref.
29 Aug 2026 18:02:03
Was a foul throw before the pen.
Also, he got the shot off. Never a f****** pen!!
29 Aug 2026 18:08:12
How can it be a clear pen? When the Notts Forest player clearly had one foot off the ground when taking the throw in that led to the goal, that's a foul throw in the rulebook. Oliver on VAR today?
Jurgen Klopp was appointed on 08 October 2015.
He won his first LFC trophy on 01 June 2019 (three years and 8 months later) and, if anyone does not know what trophy it was, they are not LFC supporters?
30 Aug 2026 02:47:40
It was an extremely soft penalty imo, and I felt it was Williams who came into contact with Allison instead of the other way round. Not to mention the farce that happened just before that with the foul throw and the fourth official taking three minutes to figure out how to work his board and make the substitutions.
30 Aug 2026 22:22:05
I didn't think it was a pen but that is the modern game.
01 Sep 2026 00:06:21
You could argue it’s a pen but the problem is they are never given if the attacker gets a shot off because the contact doesn’t impede him. He was never getting to that ball anyway.
You see it all the time when a defender slides in to block a shot and catches the attacker after the shot. It’s never given as a pen.
Isak got his leg broken in such a tackle and VAR didn’t even look at it as a possible red card.
I’m ok with it being a penalty as long as they are all given as penalties in similar circumstances, but we all know they won’t be.
I thought the ref was awful throughout to be honest. He should’ve sent Aina off for his cynical foul on Munoz as he was bursting into the box but he knew if he gave the foul he’d have to give a second yellow so he bottled it and gave nothing.
Wirtz’s goal should’ve stood as McAtee intentionally headed the ball after it got the deflection off Wirtz and then he lost the ball which should’ve deemed Frimpong onside.
The refereeing and VAR was a s***show.

Just how bad are we right now? Truly embarrassing stuff. Just while we were all thinking that it was Slot and Gvb who were the problems, we can now safely say that the players themselves are just mid table mediocre themselves. This is the worst defence since Roy Hodgson era. Only for Ali, we'd be relegation fodder. We definitely have the two worst full backs in the league.
The cost us goals and offer absolutely nothing. Our midfield don't work as a unit with possession and out of possession, lack pace and aggression and can't sniff out danger. Our forward line is slow, physically weak and often out of position. No Suarez like aggression at all. Not sure where we go from here. It's desperate stuff after game 2. This is bad. Very bad.
29 Aug 2026 20:30:28
I'd argue it shows how much damage letting Slot have the season when he should have gone before Christmas, along with a poor recruitment plan, has set this team back.
We seem to have taken a massive step or 2 back rather than progress on the success.
I gave faith in Iraola, but we need to sort his support from above out.

Blaming Slot for this season's results is a bit of a stretch. A bit like crediting Klopp for the title Slot won.
We are currently not great, but definitely not awful. Patience is required.
The squad is thin down to the cumulative effect of not bringing in enough new players every summer since Klopp's title.
Even just 2-3 each year could have seen us blood in a new gen for when Klopp's titans each began to age.
Instead, we have just had two summers of frenzied activity: the midfielder year (Szob, Mac, Endo, Grav), and last year.
This has left us short, and liable to panic buys. I don't think last summer's incomings will be as bad as Commoli's splurge on Carroll, Downing, Adam etc - Isak will be deadly when passed to, Wirtz showed some metal to improve yesterday, Eki is great. The fullbacks are the worry, as they currently can't cross a ball.

Dom at RB says it all...
I was ready to give Iraola time as there was a lot wrong last season and he's not a magician. I even came to terms with the fact that the club wasn't bringing in a proper DM, but I've absolutely no time for the absolute sh*tshow that's going on at RB.
This nonsense is going on for a year now.
Completely unacceptable.
29 Aug 2026 17:07:59
Say what you will, but the team is more balanced when Dom is at rb. Id rather him in the middle and Bradley rb, but not an option rn.
{Ed666's Note - is it Nyoni time?
29 Aug 2026 18:22:32
@chewysuarez, Say what you want but Szobo is prob our best rb literally. Lol who is better than him there at the club? He actually seemed more effective when he went there for the short time in the match. Yes, worrying.
29 Aug 2026 19:48:42
Funky061, Completely agree we looked better with Szob as right back and he still got forward. I wouldn't say he's had particularly good games in midfield today or against Newcastle. Need to find a left back now!
Thought Wirtz and Montez played well. Hopefully that goal from Isak can give him a boost of confidence.
29 Aug 2026 16:41:09
Caught between new tactics and Slotball for me, I actually think he'll work it out. Personally I don't rate either fullback and, in truth, watching all the wasted crossing chances I'd have Trent back in a heartbeat. I think Nyoni should deffo start as the balance is much better.
I thought Isak had a Haaland sorta game, did zero but took his goal well, Barcola one side, Munoz the other and Wirtz up his arris might be the key to that but we'll see.
The biggest thing for me is we go back to a grafting midfield, everyone currently seems to be doing what they like going forward and the gaps are enormous.
But I reckon it'll come once it's all a bit more settled.
29 Aug 2026 16:33:35
I liked the look of Munoz today.
29 Aug 2026 16:25:24
I'm not mad at that to be honest. We played well for the most part, just a couple of basic mistakes/lapses letting them score + thought the penalty was harsh. Never thought I'd say this but we look much better with Mac in midfield.
Good to see Isak score and Munoz off the mark. The immediate improvement from Slot ball is clear to see and it's only going to get better. Onwards and upwards.
29 Aug 2026 16:52:12
Think the first half was pretty dire. Forrest were the far better team.
Massively concerned that we seem to be making the same mistakes. And Barcola doesn't change this result much in my view.
29 Aug 2026 16:14:54
Frimpong, I knew the boy was gonna fumble that pass to Isak before he even tried it.
29 Aug 2026 21:43:52
Needs to be sold before the window closes. Iraola can't pick him anymore, he's nowhere close to the level we need.
29 Aug 2026 16:01:33
Much better 2nd half. Look like a different team when we actually get the ball forward quicker.
Possibly controversial but Szobs might be great at free kicks etc. but I’d be putting him at RB if he’s in the team - not saying we have better options in midfield before anyone gets triggered ha - I think he improves us at RB though and at least then he’d be less likely to give the ball away when he’s trying to be Maradonna off Temu.
Isaak needs service. 2nd half Wirzt looked like what we hoped he’d be, Munoz will only get better, can see Nyoni getting plenty of games this season - Barcola will massively improve starting 11 and I’m confident our spending isn’t finished - no idea who we will buy though ha.
Think AI will figure it out fairly quickly and our settled first 11 will give anyone a game.
29 Aug 2026 16:39:26
Fair to point out Slot got absolutely ripped into for putting Son at rb, fair to say he saw what we are seeing now. He's a liability in midfield have the ball away so much today and offered very little attacking wise (if anything).
29 Aug 2026 17:32:58
Can we not be including average players in the starting 11 just for the sake of it? If Szob is not good enough in his natural position, then he's not good enough to start. We need to be better defensively. Having a CM as RB does not help.
