Going on from Cara's post i have just also heard that Liverpool have reached an agreement with Xabi,
Thats all they say, I'm not saying i know this, it's just like i say what i have heard, let's hope this is true πŸ”΄πŸ€ž.

19 Jan 2026 00:29:44
I assume for the end of the season?

0

19 Jan 2026 01:38:30
Awesome! For me, now I don't care if we lose all matches under slot remaining season, most important is now we have a proper successor to Klopp! Back to heavy metal football but xabi Alonso's intelligence!

2

19 Jan 2026 04:17:35
I don't like it if Liverpool lose a throw in. I'm not even sure what sport Peter is watching.

2

19 Jan 2026 04:45:59
You might be a little underwhelmed by the realty, HappyPeter. Xabi is not bringing back Heavy Metal football.
Also, very sad that you are ok with throwing away the Champions League and the FA Cup this year but, hey, you do you.

I'm in know way ITK about what is going on, but I have a bit of an inside track when it comes to LFC. For several years I have been employed as a driver for the women's team, so do hear snippets of what is or could be happening.

My info is that Slot's job is safe until at least the summer, and there are no moves to oust him - currently.

Could this change in the short term? No idea, but I for one am not holding out that Alonso, or anyone else will be in charge any time soon.

Does this throw a damper on what Carra posted earlier. Not necessarily, because there was no time frame mentioned in his post.

As I stated earlier I am not ITK, but just passing on what I have been hearing.

2

18 Jan 2026 20:09:16
There's a Bayern itk- Bayern space on twitter who gets a lot of info on Bayern- hence the name I guess

Anyways he kind said Xabi wants a rest till summer, said this last week, the Times are also reporting it now.

4

18 Jan 2026 21:18:14
What has Xabi Alonso got to do with Bayern? I mean I know he played for them but that was years ago.

2

18 Jan 2026 21:51:24
In his πŸ‘†defence seeing as I'm on twitter too, the Bayern space guy was actually very reliable as touching Wirtz transfer, called it early and stood by his claims even when others reported the deal was going tits up and he had inside info regarding Bayern that all came thru but that's it.

This is Xabi who is in no way related to Bayern Munich, reliable itk but clear conflict of interest.

3

18 Jan 2026 21:33:07
Remember when Klopp wanted a rest and Liverpool came calling, then all that changed.

2

19 Jan 2026 00:21:07
Darwin, Alonso is a football manager, a very good football manager and he's currently out of work. Liverpool might soon need a new a new manager. I'm sure you can connect the dots.

0

19 Jan 2026 01:35:56
@ darwins evo, there is irrefutable proof xabi Alonso is our prime target until he decided on Real Madrid job. So we move on to Slot. Slot was a 2nd choice.

1

19 Jan 2026 04:48:40
My sarcy response was to Sean Dundee.

18 Jan 2026 17:36:20
Hello all,

I've been told that we can consider Xabi Alonso to Liverpool as done.

Ta.

18 Jan 2026 17:49:44
OH MY GOD!
Carra, we LOVE YOU!

GET In!

When it is official (hopefully ASAP) We will give Slot the send off he deserves and remember last year fondly.
For now, let's enjoy this!

13

18 Jan 2026 17:50:03
Happy Sunday Carra - Happy Sunday indeed, I've been waiting for you my friend!

7

18 Jan 2026 17:53:59
Nice one Carra. The cocktails will taste even better today. Cheers.

4

18 Jan 2026 18:00:16
Nice one, Carra. For the summer, or to be in before that?

2

18 Jan 2026 18:00:57
Thanks Carra for your info aa always, that's fantastic news!

1

18 Jan 2026 18:02:23
Thanks Carra.

Any idea when?

2

18 Jan 2026 18:03:16
Is that to take over immediately or in the summer Carra? As it would make sense if Slot is to go in the summer they get it all sorted now with Alonso so he just steps in.

2

18 Jan 2026 18:03:26
Wow. Cheers Carra as always. Are we talking end of season or sooner?

0

18 Jan 2026 18:05:01
Nice one carra,
Any idea if it something for the summer or to immediately replace slot? I know you previously said it was unlikely Alonso would join until the summer. Cheers.

0

18 Jan 2026 18:05:30
Thank you mate. For now or in the summer do you know?

0

18 Jan 2026 18:05:49
I know this is a rumour site but I for one will be delighted to see the back of "sloth all" if this comes off! Thanks for at least cheering us up and giving us hope Cara! πŸ™πŸ˜œπŸ˜‰πŸ€ž.

2

18 Jan 2026 18:08:38
Do you mean now or summer Carra?

2

18 Jan 2026 18:09:11
Cheers Carra. Thanks as always. I guess the question is when?

2

18 Jan 2026 18:10:49
Interesting, I would guess after the Marseille game? Managers are leaving clubs left right and centre!

2

18 Jan 2026 18:19:19
Thanks Carra. I so hope this is true. I'd be one happy Red! YNWA.

1

18 Jan 2026 18:20:35
Thanks Carra, much appreciated.

1

18 Jan 2026 18:27:28
Thanks for the info Carra, very exciting news!

1

18 Jan 2026 18:28:38
Cheers Carra, this has made my weekend.

Can you confirm if this is for now or summer? Hoping it's now! πŸ‘.

3

18 Jan 2026 18:45:09
Cheers Carra. I think we may need to get him in sooner rather than later.

I'm normally one for giving people time but seeing how little game time Chiesa gets and how we're not using more of what we have (not that there's a lot at the mo) does grate on me a bit and he really doesn't look like he wants to be there anymore.

We could've been a fair bit higher in the league considering other teams inconsistency but unfortunately we've been even more inconsistent and not taken advantage when the opportunity has been there. even when we are playing poorly.

3

18 Jan 2026 18:58:58
I can't see this being at the end of the season, if Slot managed to win the Champions league, wonderful as that would be, there is no way he would then be replaced. Even winning the FA cup would make it awkward.

1

18 Jan 2026 19:10:42
Thanks Cara
Still feel that slot deserves a bit more respect and credit for winning the league, still 4th still in champions league and FA Cup!
Just hope if all this happens and the clamour for change, that it all works out! Otherwise we could be in for another period in the wilderss bouncing from manager to manager! Im a lifelong red, season ticket holder for nearly 40 years and seen it, seen some of the very best and some of the worst!
Hope we don't look back thinking, I wonder what would have happened if we had stuck with Slot!

10

18 Jan 2026 19:16:11
Carra. Don't leave us hanging, now or end of season (enjoy your mojitos! )

0

18 Jan 2026 19:16:50
Have heard they're going to 'leave him behind' in Marseille with no phone and no money on Wednesday night and that he can keep his job if he swims back for the match at Bournemouth on Saturday, like a Dutch Duncan Goodhew.

TBF and respectful if he does go, we should talk well of him, he won us a league title, but I do think it's high time for a change.

4

18 Jan 2026 19:22:24
Thanks Carra you have made my Sunday.

0

18 Jan 2026 19:23:36
I'll eat my pants if we win a trophy this season.

1

18 Jan 2026 19:24:06
Carra can you please πŸ™ in fact pretty please tell us is soon and not the summer?.
Hopefully if soon we can get the pressing back into our game and drive the squad's fitness levels up.

0

18 Jan 2026 19:26:00
I hope so. Today I reached a new low when I saw an LFC notification on my phone and I was disappointed to see that our U21s had beaten Arsenal 7-0 but that Slot was still in charge.

2

18 Jan 2026 19:26:11
Too much talent in this squad for Slot and Virgil to continue - needs a clean slate. Alonso as manager, Dom as captain, Wirtz stepping into Vice Captain as the long term talisman. Move Andy Robertson and Virgil on in summer with our heartfelt gratitude for all they've done for us.

5

18 Jan 2026 19:37:06
The writing has been on the wall for a long time now unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any improvement.

Any idea as to when Carra, assume in place for the end of the season?

0

18 Jan 2026 20:02:50
Thanks carra you legend, hopefully some decent football will be back.

0

18 Jan 2026 20:03:59
Oh happy days.

0

18 Jan 2026 20:04:15
I assume this will not be until the end of the season given we are not making any signings this window. If Alonso was imminent then I am sure he would have players he would want to bring in now to guarantee CL for next season. What if we don't make the CL places would Alonso would come.

0

18 Jan 2026 20:10:01
Carra

Please tell me that this is not one of them drunken messages you send when you have had too many…. I know you have been rightfully enjoying the offerings of Barbados. lol

It's too early for an April fools and my ticker can't take too much excitement, well not until bed time 😏.

1

18 Jan 2026 20:10:14
Fits with the vibe I was getting last night.
Seemed to be basically when Alonso is ready, it'll happen.

I'll speculate he's formulating plans for his backroom.

3

18 Jan 2026 20:12:53
They're going to want to give Slot at least another month or two of rope whether we like it or not, they don't want to look like impulsive owners who are quick to dump a league winning manager who's struggling with form and currently still in the top 4 in Jan. This is just the first bit of smoke from either camp about a potential move.

I could see things moving ahead earlier than June if it becomes super clear FSG are probably willing to dump Slot before the end of the season but I think that decision point is probably at least 6 weeks away, not right now especially since Xabi is being completely reasonable to want a month or two to catch his breath after the RM debacle.

0

18 Jan 2026 20:14:45
Oh great. that's me checkin me phone now every 10 minutes.

3

18 Jan 2026 20:45:16
thanks carra that's the BDE i needed this morning.

0

18 Jan 2026 20:45:59
Bet you it doesn't happen.

2

18 Jan 2026 20:46:09
Kjh don't talk rubbish. Because Szobo runs he should be captain. VVD is still the best CB out there.

2

18 Jan 2026 20:59:52
Carra might not be able to say as its insider info and the bookies lose money,

But i've the news about the meetings yesterday and possibly monday with the players is true then Xabi joining after the CL game?

1

18 Jan 2026 21:02:18
That's a bold statement Carra, brave man to post that.

But my god the Club, the players and the fans need this, brave new world hopefully.

1

18 Jan 2026 21:55:02
2shoes, if you think any new manager will come in and start playing Chiesa, you are deluded. Chiesa will be one of the first out of the door as soon as a new manager comes in, quickly followed by Endo, Gomez and Konate.

1

18 Jan 2026 21:58:25
Cheers Carra, your class as usual.
Ed's any thoughts on if this will be summer or this season?

0

18 Jan 2026 22:13:23
It's when Alonso is coming, not if.

0

18 Jan 2026 22:29:14
Thanks, Carra. Fingers crossed it's tomorrow mate, one can hope!

2

18 Jan 2026 22:46:43
Semenyo was "done", Guehi was "done". I'll believe it when I see it. From a neutral standpoint, it would be foolish of Alonso not to wait until the Summer to see what else is on the table. Hopefully he doesn't.

Frode Kippers - Virg has dropped off massively this year, calling him the best CB out there is a huge stretch this season, he's well off the mark, he's a good captain, not a great one, I don't see him lighting a fire under anyone's arse, I don't see him influencing the game, that's what you need out of a captain, somebody who can be everywhere, do everything and inspire the rest of the team. Dom's the only one out there who looks anything like captain material over the las 6 months. Not to mention this could be Virgil's last season, even if it's not, he's coming into his final year and we need to look to the future.

2

18 Jan 2026 21:43:06
Bang on the money as always Carra. Nice one.

4

18 Jan 2026 22:56:37
It's fantastic news if it's going to happen. These last few months have turned me into a missable old sod. Carra like most on here I love your posts. This one is vague mate, we are all jumping for joy, but with no time scale or detail sorry lad. I'm not convinced I honestly need more info.

Love your posts, I'm just fed up being disappointed.
Thanks as always xx.

0

18 Jan 2026 23:35:54
I've not been an advocate for Slot out, especially mid-season.

But if Alonso is who FSG wanted originally, he is now back on the market and he wants to come, then we should do the move now.

1

18 Jan 2026 16:47:03
Good Evening Gents,

Do and of the Ed's or ITK's have any idea if we have any interest in Ezri Konsa? And if not why?

Thanks.

0

18 Jan 2026 17:21:12
Our player profile is 26 and under. He's 28 and would cost a bomb to get out of Villa.

1

18 Jan 2026 17:54:25
But would improve us massively - crazy.

0

18 Jan 2026 17:57:40
Iam not saying he wouldn't but the club have rarely brought older players something I don't agree with.

0

18 Jan 2026 18:07:50
I do, we don't coz he's rubbish.

7

18 Jan 2026 18:08:40
Interesting, are we looking at doing this for the summer? Or earlier.

If it's a done deal, surely they don't wait until summer, leave it longer and we might fail to get champions league.

0

18 Jan 2026 18:12:37
I wouldn't have thought they would sell regardless. Very important player and they are currently pushing for top 3.
If we wouldn't spend Β£20m on Guehi then I can't see us paying upwards of double that on Konsa.

0

18 Jan 2026 18:45:38
He's not very good. poor in the air and error prone, there's two good reasons.

5

18 Jan 2026 18:48:37
Aqualani - agreed we would make is better, although to be fair Titus Bramble would make us better at the back right now.
Konsa seems decent although I don't watch enough Villa games to give an objective opinion.

Notts Forest defenders might be available in the summer given their drop off and I really like the look of the big lad at the back at Dortmund.

1

18 Jan 2026 20:29:20
Forest play a low block so we can't judge their centre half's in our system.

1

18 Jan 2026 21:28:28
If we had got Guehi earlier in the window, with Konate as a sub or rotate, we would have at least 7 more points on the board.

0

18 Jan 2026 12:05:55
Hello, do any ITK know anything regarding interest in Van de Ven? Seen posts linking us with him, good player but couldn't imagine it being cheap to get him out of spurs.

Also do we still retain strong interest in Yan Diomande? Think his profile is something we miss massively - fast, ball-carrying winger. Watched him play a couple times including against Bayern yesterday and he looked like the heart of their attack. Could have easily registered a couple assists if Nusa knew how to make tap ins.

2

18 Jan 2026 14:49:14
Would be disappointed if we went for Van de Ven. I don't think he's good enough for us. His hamstrings are the biggest risk in the business.

7

18 Jan 2026 15:17:04
Van de Ven is made of crisps, horrendous injury history. Hard pass.

7

18 Jan 2026 16:02:16
Wirtz has a bad injury history on paper too.

0

18 Jan 2026 16:25:01
Here's the thing, RedScarface. Wirtz is a top class player who is already way better than his teammates even at Liverpool. Van de Ven is lamppost that can run fast - he's better than Konate but not good enough for us, regardless.

4

18 Jan 2026 17:04:04
I would take Romero over Van Der Ven every day of the week. Yes he's prone to getting yellows and reds but he has been better recently and a much better defender than Van der Ven and an improvement on Konate for me.

1

18 Jan 2026 17:48:52
I wouldn't trust Romero to wash a car.

4

18 Jan 2026 17:52:54
Neither Romano nor VDV are coming to Liverpool. Tripe.

2

18 Jan 2026 18:08:17
I think MvdV will suit P. Hincapie's role at Leverkusen under Alonso. The guy could be handful with those forward runs and damn! He's fast for someone of his build.

0

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - but he can't defend and spends half the season out with injury.}

5

18 Jan 2026 18:48:41
A spurs friend of mine told me this rumour last week. Needless to say he really rates Van Der Ven and was gutted that he's looking to leave.

I told him in no uncertain terms they can happily keep him. He's possibly got the worst positional sense of any CB I've ever seen. It's only his pace that gets him out of trouble. Plus as others have said he's an injury waiting to happen.

No thanks.

1

18 Jan 2026 21:44:37
Schlotterbeck is more likely.

From what we know Arne Slot was called into a meeting at around 7:30 tonight. Apparently the meeting is still going on right now but there's a bigger one at 11:00 tonight involving the whole of FSG and Micheal Edwards.
We understand Xabi Alonso would be thrilled to take over mid season and if Liverpool do decide to pull the trigger on Arne Slot he will likely take over.

Still yet to be know what the board decides but it's getting desperate for Arne Slot now.

Why does this post feel like I'm trying to decipher code.

11

"From what we know Arne Slot was called into a meeting at around 7:30 tonight. Apparently the meeting is still going on right now"

So the meeting's been going on for nearly 17 hours? Poor guy.

8

18 Jan 2026 12:09:40
James Pearce must of sat on the same meeting - he's saying Slot retains the full backing of the board?!

2

18 Jan 2026 11:51:21
Does anyone ITK if Xabi would act as a coach under men in suits or would be want full control aka Klopp?

0

18 Jan 2026 12:55:20
James Pearce has no info these days, another media clown trying to be relevant.

6

18 Jan 2026 13:11:43
Looks like A. I. wrote that post above.

4

18 Jan 2026 13:34:48
@something red, they're merely showing how slow his style of play appears to build up.

1

18 Jan 2026 14:41:16
@SR
Slot was asked to give feedback, and he applied the same tactics as he asked of his players.

Before anyone jumps on my case. IT WAS MEANT AS A JOKE!

0

18 Jan 2026 09:10:38
Hiya, love this site read it for years. Not an ITK but heard they are seeing if Enrique is available in the summer, if so, they'll wait for summer. If not, Alonso will be in charge soon. I'm not sure what I want, the football is dross and I'm at a loss why we've gone from heavy metal football to confused lightweights who like they've forgot how to play football…I don't get it…maybe it's a number of things but tactics (imo) really are stifling the team.

I believe we are are way better than what's on show.

11

18 Jan 2026 12:59:29
They'd be wasting their time waiting for Enrique, think he's City's next manager. Feels like we're FAAFO again if true.

6

18 Jan 2026 13:31:04
Maresca is city's next manager by all accounts. Got peps aproval.

1

18 Jan 2026 14:30:05
There's no way City are taking Maresca!

1

18 Jan 2026 14:42:45
They might as well then wait for Ancelloti after the 2030 World Cup.

Im not even sure Emrique knows if he'll be available in the summer.

17 Jan 2026 21:59:52
People know where I stand even though some pretend they don't.

If we need change I want it to be at the end of the season when it can be done as part of a comprehensive review.

However, I believe it could happen at any time now. It seems certain Alonso is the preferred successor and is unemployed. I don't know if he has some agreement with RM to not sign for a team this season, I guess he could. I do have a source at the club but I don't hear from him that often. He's not specifically said the above but that's the vibe I was getting from his brother this evening.

Slot doesn't look like he wants to be here. The players are not engaged. The crowd is starting to react negatively.

I think it's now a case of "when Alonso wants it". He might not want to face City in his first game so it may be in the next week or it may be after Valentine's Day.

Mostly speculation but based on some well connected vibes.

18

17 Jan 2026 22:29:15
The boos highlight the disconnect between Fan and Club is growing even more, it'll probably get toxic soon

Since we deliberately got knocked out of the Cup against Forest infront of our own Fans at anfield. That disrespect to supporters hasn't gone unnoticed. And it's grown every game since

And we no longer have the Glue that is Jurgan Klopp to unite the LFC Family.

14

17 Jan 2026 22:37:50
I hope so Ron.

I was at the match today and the quality of the football is getting worse.

We made a terrible Burnley side look good today.

Passive from the players but even more passive from the manager. Usual nothing subs. Eg Robbo for Kerkez when Milos was actually having a decent game, doesn't change anything for us tactically. Token 5 minute cameo for Chiesa. And all far too late when everyone in the ground could feel a Burnley goal coming after the scare a few minutes before.

Every half time this season, Slot talks to the players and the team come out worse.

I don't know what he is saying to those players at half time but there is a clear pattern of poor second half performances.

Anyway, enough ranting. Hopefully we can get a deal for Alonso sorted and move away from this depressing brand of football.

17

17 Jan 2026 22:57:44
Wrong club or competition there, 8.

4

17 Jan 2026 23:06:58
When did Forest knock us out of the Cup?

4

17 Jan 2026 23:14:25
Ron, I see the same thing in Slot, it seems he doesn't want to be here anymore.

5

17 Jan 2026 23:16:06
It's over for him here. He's lost the team and he's lost the crowd.

11

17 Jan 2026 23:31:19
The sooner Xabi joins, the better. Half a season to work with what we have, prior to a proper pre-season and choosing the ins and outs that suit his style.

Slot got lucky winning the league, it was the perfect storm. It was predicted by the Athletic that his second season returns would diminish quickly, as they did in Holland.

We have a title and some great players, now it's time to build a nee legacy, with someone who may stick around for as long as Jurgen did.

11

18 Jan 2026 00:03:54
We got knocked out of the cup against palace,

3

18 Jan 2026 01:09:50
I posted on banter that I thought some of the football played today was better, but that in no way means I am making excuses for or defending Slot, more a commentary of remaining hope for top 4 finish or decent cup run. Like many Slot lost me with the cup game throw as discussed, stubbornness with sticking with an ineffective tactical style and the lack of commitment to fix very obvious issues.

If Alonso wants it, I'd be making the change now. Give him a free pass to work with the squad until the summer when he'll have a better idea of what he wants to change.

I personally think we should sack slot the lost Dutchman he's changed formation too many times and tactics and all seem to fail kept choosing konate and gakpo who are both useless he knew we are short at CB but still deciding he's got enough cover with endo and gravenberch and then playing Dom at RB too many times which is stupid considering he's been out best midfielder falling out with multiple players in his first 2 seasons Diaz left due to slot using Gakpo on left and Diaz in strike and not being valued by the manager and club which has come to bite us on the ass we lost Diaz and Nunez who both pressed and defended well for the team both were fast and quick and now we don't have no wingers who have pace and press.

Its just weird. Last season, after the first half breaks, the team will come out and play way better most of the times. Probably he talked some good talk to the boys, and most of the time the second half would be much much better than the first. Its way way different this season. What is actually happening? Its just weird.

How did we make Burnley look anywhere close to being good? The result might make it seem like they were somewhat good but it was not a passive performance in my opinion, we were actively trying to solve a problem we've had all season against a team that had not much interest in doing anything other than frustrate. Lots of touches in the box, 11 shots on target, full backs got behind the defence multiple times, clear chances on a few occasions that we failed to put the final touches on.

The problem is that despite all this it's another poor result amidst many poor results, as bad as we have been we should be right up there in second or third and we are not. In that way people are right to be frustrated with the manager, it's just not good enough ultimately.

All of the subs made a significant improvement. The problem is that they were required earlier, and unfortunately that's a manager issue.

18 points from the last 51 available! How anyone doesn't want regime change now is beyond me, sack Slot, get a caretaker to shout at them and Xabi can come in after he's had a months break to get his head on.

Are we pretending that this squad isn't still full of quality? Home draws against Burnley, Sunderland and Leeds are unacceptable. The players have clearly lost faith in Slot too.

Spot on Navy couldn't agree more.

If fans enjoy this type of football then good for them. Personally I don't.

It wasn't all bad and there were moments of magic in there (specially Wirtz and Ekitike for the goal) but over the years I'm used to being on the edge of my seat watching us with the adrenaline pumping.

Yesterday I found myself questioning why I pay a significant sum of money to continue to watch this.

I don't see the benefit in waiting ron if Alonso is ready to come to us. Unfortunately the style of football we playing now doesn't suit us as a team, as a club or as a set of supporters. It just seems lifeless, on the pitch and watching it.
I'm not quite sure what has happened slot but he's not a shadow of the manager he was this time last year.

Did we win it too handy last season and went to his head? Is it that his family has moved over and he's feeling it on his own? Both the team and himself just don't look all that interested. I don't want to be too harsh on slot as he seems good guy, straight forward and honest but he's lost his way.

"Hope we do get Alonso and then some of you will have to eat humble pie" Ron Keague - live chat 17/ 01/ 2026.

I did think waiting til the summer to get Alonso made sense, but now thinking when Alonso left Madrid Slot must think even if he gets 4th and improves performances a bit the writing is on the wall and he and the players must know it, so I'm inclined to think give Alonso the break he wants/ needs and get him in before the end of the season, so come pre season after the world cup the players will know what's what, he would of worked with the squad and knows who's out and what he wants in.

So am leaning towards getting him and his team in before the end of the season now too.

18 Jan 2026 10:57:37
Just to say, there won't be a proper pre-season coming up - everybody will be taking part in the Donny and Gianni love-in. Apparently if you make it to the final it is nearly two months after the tournament starts.

2

18 Jan 2026 11:42:41
"Alonso may not want to face City first game" he's applying for the wrong job then. Rubbish.

18 Jan 2026 12:16:50
Post the abuse too ArAy if you want to be honest and transparent. There was context to those comments.

And I remain of the opinion - it is better to wait (which is the background to that quote).

2

18 Jan 2026 12:46:50
The sign of a good manager isn't when things are going right, it's when they aren't. Arne just can't find the answers and he looks like a man who now doesn't want to. think it just looks inevitable.

1

18 Jan 2026 12:44:30
In fairness Ron has been saying the same thing for weeks. Sticks to his guns.
What would be your honest opinion if Alonso did take over Ron? Do you think he'd to a better job with the players ect? Would he actually train them? How good of a man manager if he you think, as I think that's the major issue currently.

1

18 Jan 2026 12:56:06
Rons got an opinion like the rest of us and he's entitled to it. Let's not turn on eachother just because somebody thinks differently to the majority. It creates discussion but sometimes people on the internet get silly - like in the live chat yesterday.

I'd say it was mostly Ron sticking to his guns believing in what he believes in and some giving him hassle for his opinion lol it's silly. Some will do well to remember - It's only football.

Ron, I 100% disagree with your stand mate but that's part of it, no big deal. Who really knows, you may be the one of a few in a year from now saying "I told you so" to everyone. Time will tell - but right now nobody is right, it's all guesswork.

The way I see it, Jota's passing was too big an event for a technocratic football setup to deal with.

Slot may have been the right man post-Klopp. But he is not the right man to heal the club (fan-player-coach triumvirate) from the summer trauma.

It's unfortunate for him, but it is the reality.

In addition, Slot has not been helped by his boss Hughes with regards to the squad inbalance.

We need a reset at the club. Not because of incompetence (although there has been some from the sporting director) but more so because of the toll the summer took on the club, players and fans.

Waiting until the summer delays the healing and potentially erodes the affinity the new players might have with us.

Act now. Start healing.

Hello all!
Nothing great to say to be honest, apart from slot will not be Liverpool manager next season. There will be no major signings this window apart from the odd youngster.
I'm told the reason Heitinga went to spurs was down to hughes blocking the move back, he wanted the return and so did the manager and coaches but it was the sliver tongued charlatan that stopped it.

Not sure it would have made much difference to our style of play but it definitely would have helped with the defensive side of things.
As things stand the club will not make any major changes until the summer, we have to just take what we can at the moment with slot in charge.

6

17 Jan 2026 19:11:49
Honestly can't believe what I'm reading, if what you're saying is true.

It's like the suits are actively trying to harm the club.

10

17 Jan 2026 19:13:54
Heitinga wanted to come back but was told the manager may not be the same come the summer so he went to Spurs.

6

17 Jan 2026 19:13:58
If it's true that STC blocked Heitinga then in my view he is deliberately sabotaging the club. If that's true then the club needs to get rid of him tonight.

0

17 Jan 2026 19:35:48
I don't get why we would want Heitinga back now, if so on what a 6 month contract because when a new manager comes in he probably want his own back room staff so that would have made no sense.

6

17 Jan 2026 19:38:19
I don't believe any of this.

21

17 Jan 2026 19:57:37
Thunderbird2 nobody says you have to believe it! That's the joy of having an opinion, they're like bum holes we all have them but not everyone wants to see or hear yours!
Why do we get so much hate for sharing what we get? Would you prefer nobody says anything?

18

17 Jan 2026 19:58:41
He was told the manager would not be there come the summer so he went to spurs?

Frank might not be there come the end of January.

9

17 Jan 2026 20:05:30
… maybe because Liverpool have the same owners as city this time? 🀣🀣.

7

17 Jan 2026 20:17:44
Surely it wouldn't matter if Slot was manager. Surely he'd just come in nd stay as long as Slot is here. Not as if Frank is everyones cup of tea at Spurs.

1

17 Jan 2026 20:25:27
I love an aul rumour and keep them coming (Carra has been brilliant) but can't believe how many posters are buying into all of the ITKs on here lol its always info that can never really be proved.

10

17 Jan 2026 20:30:14
The guy chose to leave. He left. We replaced him. Why would we give him a job just because he got sacked?

6

17 Jan 2026 20:40:27
Neily, Thunderbird saying he doesn't believe what you say is hardly hate is it?
Let him have his opinion, you have yours.

11

17 Jan 2026 21:02:18
What Neily says may be true but there's always more to it than that.

We don't know what wage he wanted for example. I don't know about you but if he came back asking for a pay rise I'd be telling him to do one too.

Let's just let the suits do their jobs and stop jumping to conclusions about everything.

2

17 Jan 2026 21:47:35
Maybe he's hoping to take over from Frank but that option is not available at Anfield?

1

18 Jan 2026 06:15:44
Spurs next manager: Arne Slot and Heitanga.

17 Jan 2026 16:10:21
Any word on Grav re-siging.

1

17 Jan 2026 16:57:26
Hopefully not. We have enough midfielders with very little quality.

11

17 Jan 2026 17:04:09
What about slot resigning.

15

17 Jan 2026 17:06:36
Any word on the bald fraud getting his wish of a one way flight back to Holland.

9

17 Jan 2026 17:08:29
He needs to earn one imo. Current one runs until 2028.

1

17 Jan 2026 17:09:02
After today's performance they all look they've resigned.

2

17 Jan 2026 17:11:25
Any word on Slot resigning?

So it appears that Marc Guehi wanted Liverpool and waited for Liverpool but we never made the move, infact when City made there bid Guehi's camp went back to Liverpool and indicated that his preference was Liverpool however Liverpool did not even respond. This wasn't about wages etc as the same signing on fee which was agreed in the summer (Β£15m) was the same fee agreed with City.

Player was willing to take lower wages than he did at City but we didn't go for it. Liverpools stance was firm we only wanted a free transfer with same wages and signing on fee in summer as previously agreed and in the end Guehi opted for City as Liverpool never acted and couldn't be guaranteed that interest from Liverpool may not move on to other targets come the summer transfer window.

7

17 Jan 2026 15:31:02
If this is accurate then we have made a mistake.

11

17 Jan 2026 16:33:31
If this is true, Edwards and Hughes need immediate sacking.

12

17 Jan 2026 16:55:51
Can't beat Burnley with a first eleven of that quality - put us all out of our misery. Dreadful.

14

17 Jan 2026 17:27:11
I really struggle to understand our transfer policy, if guehi did come to Liverpool after the interest from city it's a crazy gamble that has backfired. Slot won't play Gomez and most of us wish he won't play konate. If we don't bring anyone in the forget champions league and Alonso next season.

17 Jan 2026 17:49:44
Another "CLOT" record today for the first time since 1981, LFC has not beaten any newly promoted club at Home!

Sunderland, Leeds, Burnley all Anfield Home draws, 18 premier league points taken from the last 51 pts available, is a circa 35% PL win record.

Gets even better besides Semenyo, Guehi, Xabi will be offered the Spurs job as interim manager till the end of the season?

All the Anfield Crowd leaving again early at the end of the game says it all, LFC, CLOT and American Cowboy owner Lenny Henry, another comedian easily winning the race to the Bottom.

Another 30 years in the Footballing Wilderness appearing rapidly on the Horizon!

YNWA 97 and 20.

This just sounds like rage bait.

7

17 Jan 2026 18:50:26
May sound like rage bait (albeit knowing Downey's posts, it doesn't sound like him) but if you checkout Ed001's replies to my posts on Banter yesterday, he's saying the same thing, and Ed001 is definitely not known for posting rage bait.

I believe it, albeit I really, really don't understand it.

My confidence in the powers that be, having been so high in the summer, is ebbing away with gathering speed.

Sad and angry.

2

17 Jan 2026 20:12:04
Easy to understand mate, the manager is rubbish. I can guarantee you if he was English he'd have had less Lee way.

17 Jan 2026 23:20:52
Guehi apparently turned up at Hughes's house with cue cards. He was in tears the poor fella as he begged on his knees for Hughes to sanction the deal.

Hughes only saw the first 2 cards 'don't say anything Glasner has spies everywhere' and 'I always loved you and your club Richard please don't ignore me'

Before Hughes slammed the door in his face!

Out of order if you ask me he could've at least gave him a cup of tea and a biscuit.
