That midfield needs majorly addressed and hopefully it starts in January. They ain't good enough.

20 Oct 2026 21:58:56
Ron complaining about our midfield. Now I have seen it all.

10

20 Oct 2026 22:03:41
Considering the contract situation around Van Dijk and Alisson, there is going to be a lot that needs addressing.

2

20 Oct 2026 22:10:53
I do wonder why you watch football, you don't appear to enjoy any of it.

18

20 Oct 2026 22:28:00
There is just no pleasing some people.

5

20 Oct 2026 22:36:08
Both Allison and VVD should get a 12 month extension IMO. I'd also sign Araujo permanently and that addesses much of our defensive issue for a few years.

12

20 Oct 2026 22:41:37
Six changes from Saturday and Andoni still wins, you have to give Andoni credit for that!

YNWA Andoni.

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - 6 changes and coming back from 2 goals down gotta give them total reverence.

21

20 Oct 2026 23:54:45
Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold your horses.

@Ron, this is all new to me, do you think you could do a quick article explains why the midfield is so bad and what the club need to do to make it better. Like I say, this is all new stuff to us and I, for one, would be grateful if you could keep the board informed on a daily basis.

12 goals in 3 wins (out of 3 matches) in a week suggests to me that we need a complete overhaul of everything and you seem like the chap who knows what the club needs to do.

10

21 Oct 2026 00:14:30
The defence was all over the shop though. Most of our midfield had good games.

2

21 Oct 2026 00:40:12
The midfield of Macallister, Nyoni and Grav? Ryan was mediocre at times but Nyoni was very good and Macca scored twice.

21 Oct 2026 01:51:37
Great to come back from 2 down, at least we've shown we can do it but there was some absolutely shocking football at times, especialy in that first 30 mins. VVD was on another planet for the first goal, I can forgive the misjudged header but why was he only jogging back at a snails pace after giving it away? He made no effort whatsoever. Araujo thought he was playing CM for the 2nd goal, complete lack of awareness, (I'll forgive him this time for getting the equalizer), Rio was half-ass tracking back even though he could blatanlty see the gap Araujo had left behind, and his man running into it. We were really all over the place at times, and again, like against Brentford we completly failed to control the tail end of the game, something we really need to improve on. 5 more minutes and I reckon we'd have conceded another goal.

Rio was phenomenal going forward, Macca had an excellent game too, hopefully a sign of things to come from him this season as we really need the midfield to step it up, Wirtz did well when he came on, hopefully that goal is just the confidence booster he needs to kick on.

4

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - Bah humbug is it Xmas already..πŸ˜†β€¦6 changes from the weekend, much weakened side..we came from 0-2 down..Let’s gooooooo!!! I’m not having a go mate and you know I’m the first one to slag off a bad performance but I do think this is the time to do it. There was mitigation for the poor performance for some of the game today and very little mitigation against Brentford. We’re in a strong position in the CL table, Macca, Wirtz & Rio played well lots to be content with

16

21 Oct 2026 03:35:54
People are only happy if it's a perfect performance, it's quite sad really.

5

21 Oct 2026 07:18:21
I was surprised that Macca started deep with Grav further forward. For me, Grav's biggest strength is receiving the ball on the half turn from the defence and running at the opposition and Macca's strengths are very much at the top of the pitch rather than deeper. That said, I was pleased to see Macca tracking back and working harder than he has in the past. Hopefully Iraola's methods and tactics are starting to take effect.

It was the most Jeckyll and Hyde performance I can remember in a long time though. For 35 mins we were embarrassing. No urgency, no hunger, complete complacency but then when we went 2-0 down we seemed to finally wake up and were a completely different (and decent) team. We turned the game round before having another shaky period of the last 10 mins.

More positives than negatives I'd say but Brighton on current form will rip us a new one if we start like that at the weekend!

3

21 Oct 2026 07:24:33
Could probably write a 30 page article on the negatives and another on the positives. 3 points after that first half is an outstanding achievement.

Good thing that's gone unnoticed is how many players we have off the mark in regard to goals. 10 in total with Macca 2nd top scorer and Araujo 4th joint.

Credit to them pair and their goals last night.

5

21 Oct 2026 07:38:54
I cant't believe there's so many negative and critical post after that game. Do we think we have a right to win every game 4-0.

I was acting like a toddler for the first 36min after that i was screaming in joy at the TV cause we all know they can hear us ;)

It was very good to see such direct play from us at times. We do have a long way yet, and yes there are places we can strengthen, but If people can't see the improvements being made i think they will just always complain its just in their nature, and that's ok.

3

21 Oct 2026 08:33:31
People are right to be negative. It might be early days but those first 30 odd minutes was horrendous. A better team would have been out of sight by the end of it. People are right to be critical of the midfield issues which are as obvious as the nose on your face.

We cannot defend nor attack with it. There are positives too mixed in there but it's like we were the best of two bad teams. At least we woke up and won it. Just about.

3

21 Oct 2026 08:45:07
For me there's a big difference being critical vs negative.

Being critical means analysing specific elements objectively to find solutions or improvements, whereas being negative involves a blanket pessimism that dismisses value and creates a toxic atmosphere.

20 Oct 2026 21:35:21
Rio deserves a song.

His name is Rio,
and he's got Anfield in his hands,
His name is Rio,
and he only earns twenty-five grand.

3

21 Oct 2026 01:29:11
Or,

His name is Rio
And he dances down the wing
He shoots, he scores
And he makes us Koppites sing

8

20 Oct 2026 20:47:17
Sign Ronnie up! Rio is fantastic.

2

20 Oct 2026 20:57:54
This is why we need to keep Rio at all costs.

3

20 Oct 2026 22:00:26
We need a midfield revamp.

1

20 Oct 2026 20:31:27
Tsimikas is so bad, having a decent delivery does not outweigh how bad he is elsewhere.

7

20 Oct 2026 21:59:33
The Greek Scouser! Of course he's smiling. He's stealing a living mate.

2

21 Oct 2026 00:06:19
Loving it, another win signalling the end for Tsimi, VVD (on the transfer board) and the entire midfield.

Played 11, won 7, drawn 3 and lost 1. A new head coach turning the club around and still without Bradley, Leoni, Ekitike (and today Dom.) We are improving, we are nowhere near the finished article but 12 goals in the last three games would suggest that one or two of them are doing something rupight and some of the others are starting to join in. Why not, for once, highlight the positive stuff that we can build on - Nyoni, Ngumoha and the first signs of the real Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola showing up, rather than searching out some of the stock phrases to wrote players off.

I can't see the point in watching if it isn't fun and all people look for are faults and wheeling out destructive criticism game after game.

8

21 Oct 2026 00:52:49
Agree WDW.
Starting Nyoni, Rio and Koumas in a Champions League game and keeping them on the pitch until we fought back from a 2 goal deficit to 2 goals ahead showed absolute confidence from Andoni. It will have done them the world of good to be part of that comeback and proved they are as much as an option for the starting eleven as anyone else.
There were hiccups initially as we made 6 changes from Brentford but that was mostly due to established players like VVD and Tsimikas making poor decisions than anything.
Enjoyable game, great result and a superb showing by the younger guys. What's there to complain about?

6

21 Oct 2026 06:59:56
Go back a couple of seasons, take all the posts regarding TAA, swap TAA with Tsimi, and back to that whole situation again.

Great deliveries but can't defend.
Its the same BS all the time.

Just have to accept that we'll never be happy with what we have. until its gone.

1

20 Oct 2026 19:14:39
Would have liked to have seen Wirtz start tonight just to see if he can continue his slight upturn & form & confidence?
Either way I fancy us for a 3-1 win.

0

20 Oct 2026 19:37:52
Good to see Nyoni, Ngumoha and Koumas all getting a start.

3

20 Oct 2026 19:39:55
Forgot to add Danns on the bench too. Be interesting to see if he get# on for the last 10 - 15 minutes.

1

20 Oct 2026 21:01:26
Would love to see Danns get some minutes. Unlike Koumas he"s got talent.

2

20 Oct 2026 23:13:46
BR I thought Wirtz changed the game. brilliant 45 from him, dictated the tempo, found pockets and linked the whole thing together. Rio was excellent but for me that was what we need consistently from Florian.

7

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - agreed on all points

20 Oct 2026 14:38:45
On the subject of new tunes. Got one for Isak - to the tune of Peggy Gou - it goes like (nanana)

I can't explain, I got a feeling that he's going to score again
He told the geordies that he's going to go on strike
Cos he wants to be Liverpool's number 9
I guess it goes, like na-na-na
And his name is Isak, it's Alex Isak

Na-na-na-Isak, Na-na-na-Isak
Na-na-na-Isak, Na-na-na-Isak.

0

20 Oct 2026 16:15:11
Jesus, o hope that isn't the best you can do πŸ˜….

3

20 Oct 2026 16:57:48
Rather we sung que sera sera and waved him off.

2

20 Oct 2026 18:05:56
I was thinking the same thing about you.

11

20 Oct 2026 18:44:28
Don't have to sing to me mate a little wave will do.

2

20 Oct 2026 08:28:56
Hi all
With Florian starting to hit some form what are your thoughts about a song for him? Well known that the singing from the stands gives the lads a little extra. Last couple of games he has been great and I hope he continues to improve, song for me would be:

Florian Wirtz is on fire!
Your defence is terrified!
Florian Wirtz is on fire!
Na na na na na na na na!

I have doubted him in the past but really hope he makes it with us, fantastic little player.

5

20 Oct 2026 09:16:27
Which form is it he is hitting.
A decent performance against LASK?

7

20 Oct 2026 09:47:57
You missed the Brentford game? He was decent there too and even had an assist, I know shocker πŸ˜….

12

20 Oct 2026 09:50:15
Exactly shughes55.

20 Oct 2026 10:17:01
I won't quit my day job but here's my effort.

To Around The World by ATC:

"He comes from Germany,

he joined The Reds and said **** off to Man City,

Told Bayern Munich that you're not the team for me,

The only club I want to join is LFC,

Oh Flo you make me go na na na na na"

Ta.

25

20 Oct 2026 10:17:18
Let's not get carried away now lol. I wouldn't say he's found his form at all. I like the optimism though.

2

20 Oct 2026 10:58:19
No shock to me, couple of weeks with Jurgan and he's already slightly improved.

3

20 Oct 2026 11:27:42
I actually like that tune any way Carra. I think a guy used that some tune to do a song for Isak too but not heard it sung at the ground yet.

Banger either way!

4

20 Oct 2026 11:28:52
Love it Carra.

3

20 Oct 2026 13:16:56
And why does he need to hit form to get a song? This part of fan support, I don't get. πŸ€”.

2

20 Oct 2026 13:30:18
If you don't wait until they hit form you could end up with a great song that can't be sung. The Chiesa song is a great recent example.

1

20 Oct 2026 13:33:00
How did songs even come about prior to this site and the absolute gold its members produce?!
The 0.0001% gang have hubris enough for the whole club.

1

20 Oct 2026 14:26:32
The pubs and terraces, WtGS.

0

20 Oct 2026 14:39:50
Agreed, RedHorizon. I think Flo hit rock bottom vs City because it was that bad.

Now, he is slowly improving so let's take it one game at a time and hopefully he keeps improving.

He is by no means out of the woods yet. Not even close, imo and I love the guy to bits.

3

20 Oct 2026 16:33:50
Doesn't need to hit form to get a song, if he did he could wait for ever. Chiesa's had one for ages. I'll say no more. Barcola had one straight away. Folk don't like to hear it, but up till now, Wirtz hasn't won over the support.

3

20 Oct 2026 17:02:42
You hit the nail on the head, Rome. People don't seem to like him for some reason. Maybe because he's reserved and not overly expressive with his mannerisms?

1

20 Oct 2026 17:02:50
Ive made up my own song to the tune of Orinoco flow by Enya and will be singing it to him from my sofa tonight. 🀣
He can pass, he can score he can do it F'ing all.
He can pass, he can score and his name is super Flo.

Florian, Florian, Florian.
Florian, Florian, Florian.
Florian, Florian, Florian.

And repeat.

20 Oct 2026 17:16:13
While i'm feeling creative..

Dom would run 500 miles and Dom would run 500 more.
Just to be the man who ran 1000 miles to score for Liverpool

Dom Szoboszlai
Dom Szoboszlai
Dom Szoboszlai
Dom Szoboszlai
Dadadadadadadada.

20 Oct 2026 17:27:16
For the record, have any suggestions created on here actually made it to the terraces?

If not, please leave it to the plethora of guitarists we have in the pubs of Liverpool to keep us entertained.

0

20 Oct 2026 18:17:43
Certainly not to my knowledge, Avitohyes.

1

20 Oct 2026 19:02:07
I liked RED-will-is1. Only because I recognised it lol.

I made one up for Ryan Giggs once, to the mancs tune.

Ryan Giggs, Ryan Giggs running down the wing,
Ryan Giggs, Ryan Giggs what a f'in minge,
He shagged his brothers bird, what a f'in turf, Ryan Giggs, Ryan Giggs.

I had another verse but it's far too rude.
I'm taking requests. I've got a Paul scores one?

2

21 Oct 2026 08:15:18
Chrisy please do one for T-rex arms.

0

21 Oct 2026 09:49:54
Loved the Szoboszlai one Red-willis πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯.

20 Oct 2026 08:02:13
I know highly unlikely, but does anyone think that vvd has a battle to keep his place when Bradley (who frees up Araujo) and Leoni are back?

0

20 Oct 2026 08:09:42
JB12, no.

15

20 Oct 2026 08:16:07
Not this season but maybe next. I doubt we will see much of those two this season and no point rushing them back.
And might work out to be good timing for all, with Virgil into his last year of his contract and 36. So he might be getting less playing time but still there to help the youngest come along.

3

20 Oct 2026 08:21:15
No. Walks into the team.

4

20 Oct 2026 08:25:18
Ai decided to continue with Vvd as club and match day captain. He will continue to be one of the first names on the team sheet this season in my opinion as line ups to date confirm.

Sadly Looking how long and serious the injuries were I think Bradley and Leoni are the ones who face a battle this season to get a place.

3

20 Oct 2026 09:42:29
Not a chance in hell. Also, a big reason both Araujo and Jacquet are playing so well is because of VVD's presence and calmness that is felt throughout the whole backline. Ali, as well is such a calming influence.

Again, not a chance in hell.

4

20 Oct 2026 09:56:05
Maybe VVD is playing so much better than last season because of Jacquet and Araujo beside him?

6

20 Oct 2026 09:11:55
Not convinced araujo will sign or be signed as yet, as much as I'd like it to happen. Ed001 do we hold the reins on this with the proposed fee or can he head home again if he feels he's resurrected his career enough to get a game at Barca?

1

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - it is not about getting a game there, he was unhappy and needed a fresh start. He is currently keen on a permanent move from what he says himself. Though obviously, it is hard to know if he is just telling people the right things while instructing his agent to look for a return.}

3

20 Oct 2026 10:22:31
I hope we keep Araujo, one of those players you can't help but love.

He is honestly, the only loan signing for Liverpool in my lifetime that has actually turned out well (so far.)

2

20 Oct 2026 11:40:37
VvD isn't back to his stellar previous one man defence best. But he has found form again this year. much more what I expect from him. i thought he may be on his way out but the man still got it IMO and if he has a good game playing 8 or 9 out of 10 still the best CB in the league. if he plays 6 or 7 he still walks into everyone else team bar Arsenal's.
And the semenyo race proves he can still mix it with the speedsters. although I don't think he would want too many of those in a game!

And on that note I can see all our players starting to claw back fitness and the ability to run and pass it forward. even Alison looks like he is no longer scared to move out his box. give it a couple more months and I'm confident we will be scoring goals at a healthy rate again.

1

20 Oct 2026 13:22:51
For me, Araujo is the next natural leader if VVD decides to leave. Having said that, I think VVD is good for another 2 years, possibly more, and would love it if he stayed. Experience (which is mostly mental) can't always replace physical ability, which the younger ones have plenty of.

1

20 Oct 2026 15:11:31
Mcgoveb, that too.

1

20 Oct 2026 17:05:56
Sorry. I wrote the opposite of what I meant. Experience (which is mostly mental) can't always be replaced by physical ability, which the younger ones have plenty of.

0

21 Oct 2026 08:18:04
Thanks all, pretty strong and universal support for our captain even at his age! Good to see.
