Really poor again last night. Been to every home game bar Madrid so far this season and I would say that’s one of the worst I’ve watched. Results might have been worse in others but at least you felt we may score a few and give ourselves a chance in some of them, last night we created literally nothing.
The substitutions are so so poor at the moment, and the system is just blowing me mind. First half Wirtz was picking up good pockets and the solution to this was to stick him wide left and put szobo who’s movement had been decent as well into the ten. It completely backfired and until we were desperate with ten to go it was so hard to watch.
The system of having fairly one footed full backs who can put a decent ball in but are not great passers and ball players generally like Robbo, Gomez and kerkhez inverting while we have players like salah and Wirtz trying to cut in our side just makes no sense whatsoever. There was a passage of play where we had the ball for 5 mins in the second half and it was constantly wirtz wide left knocking the ball the robbo on the edge and I just couldn’t believe what I was watching it’s so basic and obvious that those two should be swapped.

It’s got to the point where we are Worse at home.
It’s so slow. It’s boring. Formation and Style don’t suit the current squad.
The plan: Just Crawl to January and throw more money at it.

Shout to Chiesa. Thing he deserves his own thread for that effort alone
Was heartening to see the fight from the player, especially given the lack of trust and game time he gets while others who play ahead of him stink out the joint again and again and again.

He embodies the spirit the team requires and deserves a chance. Thought it was a very poor performance all round but Gakpo was really not good. Maybe Chiesa in for Gakpo against Leeds?

It’s a complete joke slot never plays him from the start Sunderland should of won that game we are so slow and boring too watch I even turned off the TV SLOT OUT.

As above turned off at half time, the play is so dour it’s unbelievable with the players we have, slot oot.
04 Dec 2025 06:54:27
The only game I’ve enjoyed watching this calendar year was the Madrid game. I’ve now fallen into the acceptance that we’re likely to lose whenever we play at the moment. We need a bit of spark and identity back as currently we’re losing all of that which took a long time to be rebuilt by Klopp.

What are the board seeing that we are not. Its the same thing over and over and over. Same tactics ( what ever they are ) same dull tempo, no drive no energy. The training these players are doing but consist of yoga and meditation as there won't be any hard running. I thought they all look throughly fed up last night. They have had enough of this tripe now as well. They need to ignore what Slot is saying and go out there and play. Passing slowly side ways for 90 mins does nothing .
Shout out to Fede who yet again was fantastic when he came on. That defending at the end was exactly what we needed. Slot needs to go, not at the end of the season, now. Leeds will bully Liverpool at the weekend . All they will do is be agressive, be in Liverpools face and push on and that will be enough. Liverpool are powder puff right now and can't handle that. Leeds are 3/ 1 to win, get on that as they are huge odds for any team playing against this awful Liverpool side right now.

Hello Eds when do players look at the critism aimed at them individually/ team and the manager and go . boys we are better then this and start playing at a better version of themselves
If People from outside can see surely players with 10 20 years of exp feel eveeyday that current tactics are not working.
Are they not allowed to critize and discuss the tactics with coaching team?

{Ed001's Note - that is what is known as the manager losing the dressing room.}

There was effort last night, but clearly a lack of quality and confidence and disjointed effort if that makes sense. The press was really uncoordinated . Ed do you know whether he’s lost the dressing room in the sense that they’re deliberately not playing their best or is it a loss of individual and team confidence type thing?

With The Jan market coming up which players or positions do you feel we need new players in.
Even before the season started my concern for the lack of CB, s has yet again came back to haunt us like it has for the last few years. So for me we need to bring in at least 2 new CB's and ideally another CB/ CDM or CD/ RB.
Finally we are struggling a bit down the Left channel since Diaz Left. We are certainly fine up front but we need to find that younger replacement for Salah and someone who can also defend a bit. YNWA.

For me CB and CDM are absolute musts. Slots days are numbered and those are the areas of current relative weakness regardless of tactical set up in this league. If we strengthen at CB, perhaps replace Macca (RM bound? ) with an energetic all action destroyer like Ederson or someone like that and set the team up to play to their strengths, I fully believe this is a team capable of challenging on all fronts.
Punching well below our weight right now.

We are Westwood, no doubt. Of the teams above us I’d say Arsenal are better coached and have bought better. City are better coached, they’ve bought ok but not brilliantly, but are probably second best all round set up right now. Villa are the slight surprise, Emery should get a lot of credit for that as I don’t think their squad is so great. Chelsea possibly slightly better squad in some areas than ours, but not sure about their coach.
Apart from those four I’m not convinced there’s anyone we couldn’t be above in the table even though we are majorly in transition. The others like Palace and Sunderland are good hardworking teams with solid defence but nothing like our attacking depth.
Why isn’t Emery getting more plaudits? Is it an age and profile thing. Because he’s not a trendy young coach with a lot to say he’s not on the list for any other top jobs.

What we see is proof that Slots been rumbled and we are easy to play against, no team should walk into Anfield as favourites let alone a promoted team but that's what Slots produced a fool that thinks his tactics and his coaching won us the prem, if not for the passion and desire of an un fancied un liked Chiesa we lose that game but passion and desire on the pitch is the 1% of a missing ingredient that's needed to win games and to inspire a performance from others, Slots installed an entitled attitude in the players a turn up.
play well play his way and we are going to be too strong. Never seen a team like Forest or Sunderland walk off at Anfield having no fear against us. Poor form the buck stops with Slot for his treatment of Chiesa, Endo, Elliot. Clearly he don't rate em but he's saying taking credit for Chiesa, what a tool he is.
04 Dec 2025 02:19:35
If we lose at Leeds Slot will be pumped!

04 Dec 2025 02:35:02
I'm hoping in the morning he's sacked. It should've been done weeks ago.

04 Dec 2025 03:32:35
Has to go. Basically gives up half a game every week by letting the players stroll around. May as well just forward to the 2nd half when we start playing with any amount of intensity. So poor.

04 Dec 2025 05:46:47
I’m not one to judge lads. What happens at Elland Road stays at Elland Road.
2
04 Dec 2025 05:48:25
And what we if we don't lose?
Then we continue to kick the can down the road.
Slot is not getting the best out of these players, and there are no signs of him actually changing anything.
Players playing out of position is not going to get the right results.

04 Dec 2025 06:06:23
He won't though. He'll be here on January the 1st plodding along by getting 3 points here and there.
3
04 Dec 2025 07:57:09
Endo3, I think you're right, mate. People don't like it on here, but he's still got the backing of the majority of supporters.

04 Dec 2025 08:03:53
Exactly, Plod ball pays dividends 1/ 5 games, otherwise it is totally inappropriate for this league.
Will we have to endure a whole season of this?
03 Dec 2025 23:51:30
Ed001 the past couple of games I've been paying attention to the intensity and the uncoordinated press during game and one thing you've got right is the lack of basic fitness from the players. Instead of getting fitter as the season has gone its gotten worse and you can expect the intensity to lull midway during the second half until the side has to chase a goal and even then the lack of fitness and intensity is apparent.
Surely the coaching staff can see that before talent and tactics you are already starting the game on the backfoot in the PL if your opponent is much fitter and physical than you?
3
{Ed001's Note - you would like to think so, but there has been no sign of it improving, which suggests they can't see it.}

04 Dec 2025 04:14:00
Ed, do you know why, when the ball gets to Gakpo, he always wants to cut inside onto his right foot? It’s either a cross that gets easily cleared by the opposition defenders, a shot that gets blocked, or a sideways pass. It’s really annoying because there are plenty of times when a simple pass to someone overlapping on the outside, especially when Kerkez plays, would be a much better option.
Is that Slot’s instruction, or is that just his built-in default setting?

{Ed001's Note - he is right-footed, it is natural he wants to do that. He can be very effective doing it.}

The only time we showed any effort was when we went a goal down and even then it was so disjointed.
1
04 Dec 2025 06:46:56
I really don't get why people keep targeting Gakpo at the moment. One of the few players this season that is providing an output in a very malfunctioning team and our second best attacker on numbers alone last season despite everyone pining for Diaz.
Yeah he cuts back a lot, but so does Salah, so did Mane, so did Diaz. It's the whole point of an inside forward playing on their stronger foot towards goal? One of few along Szob who can hold their head up right now in my book.

04 Dec 2025 07:10:53
He’s 6ft 3 and is on the floor more than Macca. Doesn’t make challenges or tackles, twice he pulled out of challenges in space of 30 seconds. One trick pony, all he does is come inside and try and shoot into the top right corner. Not good at passing so things break down or slow down when he gets the ball.
Been at fault for leaving the back post twice against Utd and Palace which has cost us points. Slot was right to hook him at half time but wrong to replace him with Salah as Wirtz and Isak were non existent when Salah came on.

04 Dec 2025 07:47:45
I used to wonder if it was the players or Slot’s tactics that left the winger’s so isolated and basically one dimensional. But hearing his comments about Gakpo after this match it’s clear to that it’s Slot’s tactics.
Gakpo can be effective cutting onto his right, but i wish we had more movement on the wings between wingers, fullback, CM and CF/ CAM. Feels like it’s just give the ball to the wing and then see what they can do.

04 Dec 2025 08:10:52
Was Gakpo good, his stats wouldn't back that up
Touches- 26
Passes completed-7
Passes into final third-0
Dribbles completed-0
Crosses completed-1
Shots taken-1
Duels won-1/ 5.

I have no problem with Gakpo coming inside but it is no going to be as affective if the fullback is allowed to make overlapping runs and create the space for him.
04 Dec 2025 00:51:04
How was Wirtz goal taken off him when the Sunderland goal was a deflection it hit VVD on the arse ( turned his back) and Ali may well have saved it?
YNWA.

04 Dec 2025 01:02:46
It's based on whether the ball is heading towards the goal when the effort is taken, or not. Wirtz's attempt was going wide, and was deflected into the path of the goal by the opponent. Talbi's effort was heading towards goal (Straight at Alisson) but diverted into the side netting off of Van Dijk, so stands as Talbi's goal.
Either way, Wirtz really starting to improve, so I have no doubt the goals and assists will come. Although, if Arne is still in charge, it might be a lil while, as Wirtz doesn't play slow enough for his liking and will no doubt bench him for even thinking about creative plays.
