Believe it or not I'm looking forward to the game sunday... Brighton are playing unbelievable football at the minute but I always think we perform better against sides that try and play against us rather than sit in a low block for 90 mins. You would assume Isak, Wirtz and Barcola are all due to start after being rested mid week (for the most part) does Rio, Gakpo or Munoz (if he's fit) start on the other side though? I personally would love to see Rio start to try and build off his midweek performance!

If we come out the blocks & start like we did on Tuesday then I think we’ll get turned over.
Got to start with intensity and put them under pressure. Yes they’re in great form but they’re also probably due for a sub par performance & they’ve an away trip tonight which might affect them.
Like you I’d like to see Rio start. His confidence will be sky high

I think both Barcola and Munoz were absent from training today.

3 wins in 6 days, 12 goals scored. Why would you not be looking forward to the game?
21 Oct 2026 11:35:37
Any chance we can create a 'Liverpool Lambast' page for the perennial moaners to unload their vitriol and leave the banter page to people who actually like to have a bit of harmless fun instead of having to trawl through the constant drudge for a bit of light relief?

Just read past it mate.

Perhaps you'd also like a forum where everyone speaks the same and wants to pretend that everything is smelling like roses? Perhaps wear some red tinted glasses whilst reading countless posts about how brilliant we are? Me? I prefer it as it is. I don't count myself as a perennial moaner but I do like to say my piece if things are wrong or not working or whatever. I view that as realism and I couldn't give a damn if people like it or not. That's why we're posting on the Banter page after all!
21 Oct 2026 22:56:25
I know this is the Liverpool page and we shouldn't . but it's that time again hahaha.

You wouldn't want Fernandes in the trenches would you? He was an absolute disgrace tonight then rounds it off by slagging the manager's tactics. As long as he's at manure they'll continue to stagnate which is absolutely fine in my eyes!
At least we're showing an upward trend whilst transitioning to AIs techniques.

{Ed666's Note - I’m I the only one that doesn’t get the Bruno hype? I thinks he’s ok like but I don’t think he’s ever been this great player that is so heralded by everyone even in his prime I didn’t think he’s been all that..I mean did he have some games were he was unplayable sure but even Titi Camara had performances like that. For me he’s over rated.

Manchester United fan here Ed666. I think he is part of our problems, the biggest i would say. As far as he is in our geam we will struggle. He is a moaner and a disgrace, its not logical to have watch players like Vitinha or David Silva or Ozil and think Bruno is in the same category.
7
{Ed666's Note - Welcome to the Liverpool page mate..The guy has ideas of grandiose and I agree he’s just not that good. The best thing for United would have been if he’d have gone to Saudi and you could have moved on. I still think this is his last season at United because I think his ego will cajole him into thinking he’s got one more big move in him and he can win important silverware

Always has been for me as well Ed666.

{Ed666's Note - Hey Bazza how ya doing over there?
1
22 Oct 2026 03:36:59
It's remarkable that in the summer people were saying he was the best player in the league.
1
{Ed666's Note - it’s lamentable mate
2
22 Oct 2026 04:19:58
This might sound extreme but he's not even a good player, never mind great. He gets a lot of assists purely down to the amount of times he grenade launches the ball forward. There is very little actual quality. Pretty much every player in the Premier League would rack up a decent number of assists if they tried to aimlessly hoof the ball over the top every single time they got it.
He's so technically limited for a player in that position, slow, makes it impossible for his team to keep the ball and offers nothing out of possession. People had the gall to compare him with Steven Gerrard when he's not as good as Steven Pienaar.
2
{Ed666's Note - I agree not great good on his day.

22 Oct 2026 07:29:29
Obviously the man can play football but who'd want to play with him? Petulant. Like his international team mate. Perhaps that's where he licked it from. Long may he stay in Manchester I say!

22 Oct 2026 07:42:15
If we were clinical enough, Wirtz could have easily had, no less than 5 assists of the 9 chances he created vs Brentford. MU fans got sold Bruno's assists return from last season and now they're are stuck.
Modern day fans tend to watch what happens on the ball and utterly ignores what happens off it. Yes he can make the odd passes here and there but off the ball, MU plays with 10 men as he's often busy moaning and bleating over everything whilst walking around lazy, thanks to his ego.
What's funny is the transfer fee MU rejected to keep their problem. Then there is Carrick, for whom the fans said "if he had started the season, they would have won the league." Well, it 7pts from 7games in the league and an absolute disgrace in Europe.

22 Oct 2026 09:15:32
I'm confused. So it Bruno NOT way better than Szobozlai anymore? is he not the best player in England?
2
22 Oct 2026 09:51:17
Ugbes, to be fair, they never said which league!
As for Bruno, he is a good player when it goes well but a horrible leader imo. It's easy to lead and set an example when your winning but to lead you need to get your players through the rough patch. Using excuses and saying it's everyone else's fault is not how a captain should go about it.
Uniteds problem remains the players, they can blame the board, the lack of investment or the manager all they want. Until they sort that dressing room out, they will just repeat the process over and over again. They'll get Conte who may do OK, similar to Mourinho. But it won't take long for them to throw another one under the bus. The common thread is the players but, due to the constant heat on the owners, get away lightly in comparison.
If Bruno feels his tactics are that much better, show it, you have the ability to control it by being on the pitch, rather than sulk worse than my 3 year old!

They have dross like Shaw, Maguire, Dalot, Mount, Zirkzee, Santos, etc etc etc. There is no easy fix for that club.
1
22 Oct 2026 10:30:02
Trying to get Champions League for 3 years for that 🤣.
0
22 Oct 2026 10:39:14
He's a good player, just not as good as he thinks he is.
Attitude and work rate is what's missing.
6
22 Oct 2026 12:04:41
Technically brilliant but has an ego and mentality like others have said that costs Man United in every game. Long may it continue 😂.

22 Oct 2026 12:08:32
I've said for years, as long as United keep thinking Bruno is 'world class' and keep trying to build a team around him, they will never get to where they want to go.
He is capable of doing some good things but he only does it once in a blue moon (pun intended) when he feels like it.
Most of the time he's a hindrance. Doesn't work hard enough, doesn't inspire others, lacks quality, moans about everyone, blames everyone else but himself.
He's poison, perfect for United ;-)

Man Utd ruined my teen years as a Liverpool fan between 2006-2013 - I used to get so much stick at school.
I am thoroughly enjoying their downfall!

A good assessment Rio!

22 Oct 2026 13:52:19
I use to find it funny when they were a big club, but the fact is they've been a mid table team for quite some time, so there demise isnt as fun as it was 5/6 years ago now. I also worry tho that we may have become that if we hadn't got rid of slot when we did.
21 Oct 2026 22:26:19
Another game where Trent doesn't get on the pitch. I've seen a lot of back and forth on other platforms about whether people would take him back or not. Not for me personally, and I say that as someone who is over him leaving. I just don't fancy him as a player anymore. Ever since Ljinders and his Guardiola loving had him "inverting".
I really didn't enjoy the last couple of months of watching Trent at Anfield. Wandering round in the middle of the pitch thinking he's Pirlo. The days of him bombing down that right hand side getting assists were gone long before he left us. He's not been any good since 2023.
11
21 Oct 2026 22:52:23
I think it's funny all the people blaming Ljinders for Trent inverting instead of the actual manager at the time.

21 Oct 2026 23:45:24
Trent was still very influential. Yeah he didn't do what he did in 2019, but that's because players grow over time. Teams figured out how to defend his and Robbo's threats, so we had to evolve. Its crazy to expect a player to keep on playing the same way throughout. He became more of a build up playmaker than a final ball player. In my opinion, we haven't replaced him at all. Last season particularly we failed to progress the ball from deep, and this season too, we massively struggle in that.
I am not sure I want him back, but to claim he wasn't good for us since 2023 is outright lies. Our build up play was completely built around him. I do agree his performances were not the same after 2023, but I put that more down to his declining willingness to defend rather than anything else.

"Over him leaving" but still posting about him.
Sure.

22 Oct 2026 14:45:47
Trent would transform this team and immediately improve Wirtz, Isak and Barcola by getting the ball to them early. Anyone who says otherwise watched a whole season without understanding what the problem was. It is no coincidence that Salah went from having one of his best seasons to one where he was absolute dross. Being another year older doesn't explain that. I think we had 8 different players at right back last season. I don't think they put in one decent cross between them. Neither did any of them improve the defence. Disagree with me if you want, but I will guarantee that you are the same ones who have wiped the things Michael Owen did to win trophies for the club from your memories because he had the temerity to join Manchester United when Liverpool didn't want him and his alternative was Hull City, then in the Championship. In fact Owen should be even more of a legend, as United haven't been the same since, and his transfer did them more harm than it did us.
21 Oct 2026 21:30:30
Looking at Arsenal's bench this evening, is it really that strong? How many would you want in Liverpool's starting 11?
0
21 Oct 2026 22:28:47
Is it? I would think maybe Zubimendi and Lewis Skelly would improve the first team. Dowman is a kid, Eze no thank you. White no, Merino no, Maybe Mosquera, Gyokores hell no. both keepers no thank you.
1
21 Oct 2026 22:29:40
They've been very smart in stacking competent £40 million defenders and midfielders over the last few years. Gives them continuity and means they can play the same way every game regardless of the personnel available
The exact type of signings the Michael Edwards PR machine journos made out were beneath us because we only sign "the right player".
5
21 Oct 2026 22:41:36
I seem to read a lot how strong Arsenal's squad is, looking at it this evening I didn't think the bench looked that strong. Not saying it's weak, just didn't look particularly strong to me.

22 Oct 2026 04:21:32
They haven't got much in attack. I don't think it's that they're formidable, far from it in fact. I think the bigger frustration is that they're very easily caught with a bit of tweaking.
0
22 Oct 2026 09:46:37
All the above said, putting aside what is likely to happen to City, Arsenal will still walk the league.
0
22 Oct 2026 10:18:48
I really doubt that Rome.

22 Oct 2026 11:14:22
I hope I'm wrong, Arne, but I can't see anyone challenging them. Forgetting City. Massive test for us next week.
21 Oct 2026 15:05:22
Bit random, but I still can't believe Mo never won the Ballon d'or, and Owen got it in 2001.did it start getting political after he won it?
7
21 Oct 2026 15:49:28
It used to be awarded to the best player in the world, at some point over the last 20 years it started to be awarded to the best player on the team that won either the Champions League, World Cup or Euro’s.
11
21 Oct 2026 17:59:51
Or just Messi or Ronaldo every year.
8
21 Oct 2026 18:07:08
A big if, but if Trent hadn't got injured in the second leg against PSG two years ago, I think we would have won that tie and Mo would have won the Ballon D'Or last year. Alas, PSG beat us on pens and Dembele grabbed the narrative for the business end of the season.
2
21 Oct 2026 18:42:32
Robby - it's a long time ago now and easy to forget but for a 3 year period from 98 - 2001 Owen was truly outstanding and the best in Europe in his position at that time. Only Raul came near him. IMO!

21 Oct 2026 19:39:28
He's Egyptian he had no chance.

{Ed666's Note - He was super deserving of it.

I think the fa cup goal got owen over the line really. There were better players around imo. Nerved, vieri, henry, Zidane, trezeguet, kahn.

8 seasons of unbelievable stats.
21 Oct 2026 11:42:26
Hi Ed's1.
Any ideas as to why we started so slow last night. Team selection?
0
{Ed001's Note - just looked like they took Villareal too lightly.
18
21 Oct 2026 13:17:49
That's exactly what happened, and it's doing my head in at this point. This team has no right to be taking anyone lightly.
Iraola has quietly had an excellent start to his reign as manager - 7 wins, 3 draws and a loss from where the team was last season is great - but the issues that have plagued this team for years will take longer to solve, clearly.
6
21 Oct 2026 13:25:25
As well as taking them lightly, Villarael overloaded the midfield and we couldn't cope. Iraola changed it after 30 mins. Looked much better after that.
5
21 Oct 2026 13:56:57
I don't understand how we could take Villareal lightly, they came 3rd in laliga last year, Iraola is very close with Perez and has a huge respect for Villareal and their capabilities. I'm sure the squad was very well briefed on how tough the game would be.
5
21 Oct 2026 14:07:36
The first 30 minutes was as bad as anything under Slot. Absolutely dreadful, and I'm being polite. A repeat of that on Sunday, and we get taken to the cleaners.
9
21 Oct 2026 14:50:54
I'm not sure the cause was rondo with disrespecting Villarreal. I think it was more to do with being concerned about the number of games we are playing and the need to preserve energy. Villarreal set up very will overloading the midfield and took us by surprise.
Once IA made the tactical adjustments there was only one team in it. Villlarreal are a very good team who have had a shaky start to their season so no shame in what we did for 60min.
2
21 Oct 2026 23:10:08
I don't think Virgil's brief period of madness helped anyone, and I think to put it solely down to us taking them too lightly does Villarreal a slight injustice.
It took big tweaks to the team to respond effectively to their game plan. The thing I'm most satisfied is that our manager continues to respond to tactical surprise on the pitch, prior to his press conferences, which has been refreshing.

{Ed666's Note - He does seem to have a plethora of in game intelligence
