When we thought Newcastle couldn’t have us off again for a striker after Andy Carroll along comes isak.
03 Dec 2025 22:42:43
Disagree completely, Isaks strength last season was running the channels and stretching defenders. We are not currently set up to do that, Newcastle play the ball forward a lot quicker than our slow and steady build up play.
I looked tonight at his movement, he is obviously instructed to play within the width of the penalty box and as such is being starved of service and space.

03 Dec 2025 22:49:15
We don't create any chances. Erling Haaland would struggle playing for us.

03 Dec 2025 22:57:29
What a nonsense post.

I agree rush, I have been hanging on hoping for Slot to turn things around…. But it seems obvious to me that the players are playing on a tight leash. Isak’s role under Slot isn’t playing to his strengths. I now feel it’s time to get in a coach that can get the best out of what is a very strong squad.
I think Ed 1 explained that Slot felt we run out of steam last season and wanted more control but the approach clearly isn’t working. And with no indication that he is about to change that mindset (Amorim stubbornness? ) I think it’s time for a new man.
Agree3
03 Dec 2025 23:27:20
We could have prime Messi, Suarez and Neymar for us and Slot would still play slow build up football.
Agree3
04 Dec 2025 00:15:02
Isak needs space to play in. Running up and down the opponent 18 yard line isn't it.
Agree2
03 Dec 2025 22:29:24
Chiesa made a 40-odd yard, lung-busting run to save Slot’s job….
03 Dec 2025 22:46:34
Or he did what he would be expected to do when playing for one of the best club teams in the world.
Agree7
03 Dec 2025 22:51:35
so perhaps the idea that the players have downed tools is bogus.
Agree2
03 Dec 2025 22:58:47
I love that he checked and got on his bike before the keeper even kicked it. Great desire.
On the other hand the slow play is becoming unbearable now.

100% agree.
We were lucky to not lose 1-2.
Slot out now!
No equivocation. OUT.

Can one of the ITK’s please tell us he’s getting sacked in the morning? I can’t believe how poorly coached this team is. I’d take Rafa back for 6 months at this point.
03 Dec 2025 23:00:51
He's not getting sacked any time soon.

03 Dec 2025 23:53:02
Rome . you still think he's the man to turn it round . id love it to be true but just can't see it myself .

03 Dec 2025 22:23:09
Haven't posted in years but always follow site . But fed up he has to go Slot we need someone who understands the club I love that we won last year but paper over cracks by keeping him is wrong.
Owners need to wake up and make honest decision. I thought I was watching bremdon Rodgers liverpool side to side passing being out muscled on ball second balls crap no press devoied of ideas. Rant over.
03 Dec 2025 23:02:27
What does understand the club mean? Do you mean able to win the league?
Agree0
03 Dec 2025 23:29:12
Rome why are you defending him. He won the league last year… so what we are here now and it’s turgid.
Agree2
03 Dec 2025 22:22:39
I reckon Wirtz might be saying "I'm a celebrity, get me out here" rather soon 😂 someone cancel Slot's next return flight back from the Netherlands please 🤞.
03 Dec 2025 22:20:35
Im not saying we should keep slot 100% we should sack him. But eds don’t you agree that Richard hughes has to also be relieved of his duties, how have they dismantled one of the best Liverpool teams I have seen in lifetime to end up with this. We so clearly need a new CB or 2, CDM and winger who can actually take on a player and effectively replace Diaz.
I couldn’t believe my eyes in that first half so so poor and ineffective. They have literally destroyed Klopps legacy in one season it’s actually criminal.
03 Dec 2025 22:58:18
Behave…. Hughes has equipped the manager with all the tools he needs to succeed. The players that left, ‘dismantling’ the squad, either wanted to leave or in the case of Nunez needed to. Tonight is the first time I’ve thought that it was time for Slot to step aside…. The pedestrian, risk averse, control that Slot clearly instructs his team to prioritise for the majority of games is so frustrating now. Especially so as when the team does up the pace and bounce first time passes through midfield (usually after it’s too late) it’s clear that they can create. They need to be allowed to play risky balls and accept losing possession.
The 10 passes between the back four followed by a long ball, bypassing the midfield, is excruciating.
Agree4
03 Dec 2025 23:32:45
I’m hardly Hughes’ cheerleader but to blame him is ludicrous.
Nunez replaced by Isak - no brainer
Jota replaced by Ekitike - solid replacement and an improvement
Diaz replaced by Wirtz - no brainer
Trent the only one not replaced by improved quality. The club pushed for Guehi can hardly blame Hughes for Palace.
I’d say the squad has improved. What hasn’t is the manager.

03 Dec 2025 22:12:19
Well, that should be that!, . should it not?
03 Dec 2025 22:41:27
Fingers crossed Shankly. It was horrible to watch. Passive, slow, side to side, no press, no aggression. We are wasting the talent we have on the pitch.

I'd rather go for Anderson personally, doing it for club and country at the moment, physical, young, knows the premier league and English!
03 Dec 2025 16:13:22
I must admit I think Anderson is a brilliant player and I’d easily swap him for Macca or jones. I can’t believe Newcastle sold him!
Agree4
03 Dec 2025 17:28:35
I'm pretty sure it was Newcastle's PSR issues that forced the sale.
He looks better every time i've seen him play, cost a fortune no doubt.
Agree1
03 Dec 2025 17:59:19
Newcastle prolly sold Anderson due to PSR issues. Just a guess.
As for him coming to LFC, he would be one of those mids. I would look at to come in and give us some energy and athleticsm in CM Also, he is pretty skillfull. Im taking him over Wharton, for sure cos we don't need him nor a DM like him.
Agree3
03 Dec 2025 18:04:44
Forest have no need to sell, so upwards of 100 mill, I reckon.
Agree1
03 Dec 2025 19:33:36
Sure Marinakis would just "make him an offer he can't refuse".
Agree1
03 Dec 2025 22:28:47
I regret that we didn’t pick up Anderson and Minteh when Newcastle had their PSR fire sale 18m ago. Would’ve cost, what? £70 or £80m all in?

03 Dec 2025 15:25:01
That's an incredible read on Slot. Klopp took in the city and the culture and this guys living out of a suitcase. That's not healthy for anyone long term even if he was to turn it around which I hope he does. a lot of his interviews have been bizzare this season and I think his lifestyle has added to the disconnect.
It makes sense now to the feel about him now. Bring your family over or the club does bring in someone in the summer that embraces the city and culture.
03 Dec 2025 17:30:37
Too much that Batman, don't tell a man how to live his life.
Agree7
03 Dec 2025 17:36:11
His kids are in their final years of education and he didn’t want to uproot them at this stage I believe. Nobody complained when he won the League last year 🤷♂️
I’ve no issue criticising Slot for poor decisions he’s making and he is making plenty but I don’t see the need to analyse his personal life.
Like I said, it wasn’t an issue last season and now it is 😏.
Agree10
03 Dec 2025 18:02:26
Batman, has it ever occurred to you that the SLot family actually tried to move over to the city but can't fur to issues like his kids still being inschool or that his wife is in a job she can't leave right now? What proof do you have that he does not embrace the City or are you saying he sits in his house and doesn't go anywhere?
I ask this cos you make it sound like Slot could move his whole family here with no hassle and that he is the one choosing not to do it. Just asking.

Eds, What is our relationship like now with Newcastle after the Isak situation. The only reason I ask is because I think Bruno G would be a great player for us and would love to see him in our midfield.
{Ed001's Note - he doesn't want to move.}
03 Dec 2025 15:04:24
Elliot Anderson should be our no 1 summer target. We've watched city and arsenal buy similar types of midfielders and their teams have thrived. I don't really give a sh1t what slot wants. This is the premier league and we need a proper 6.
Also be great to have a great English midfielder again. I like Wharton as a replacement for macca but we NEED an Anderson or ederson in there. Anderson is proven in the league.
Agree7
03 Dec 2025 15:28:55
I wouldn't care what nationality they are but I certainly agree with you Batman on Anderson. He'd be a top level signing similar to what Rice has been/ is for The Gunners.
Agree3
03 Dec 2025 16:00:20
@Batman, come and join us in the real world. I strongly suspect that Slot, FSG and the club in general aren’t sitting there waiting for you to decide what’s best for the club. What you do, or don’t think about Slot is totally irrelevant to what the club and Slot will decide to do.
Agree3
03 Dec 2025 16:53:28
WDW what harm does a poster expressing their opinion really do? Thunderbird 2 got a dressing down from an Ed for being high handed and “catty” and you could do with one as well. You are not a Greek chorus or some ombudsman. Your opinion is not any more valid than the OP’s.
Agree3
03 Dec 2025 18:06:23
Batman, is Curtis Jones English or Nigerian cos I could have sworn I saw him play for England already? Or does Jones not make you warm and fuzzy even tho he is wll you know, an "English midfielder".

03 Dec 2025 22:57:02
Sorry, forgot to add. - @Beg Tets - can you show me an example of anywhere on this forum that I have been on for a number of years now that any opinion I have is more important or carries more weight than anybody else’s?
Every now and again, the board has a conversation about the lack of subtext - facial expression, body language, engagement, tone, context etc, that posts suffer from and I personally think that most post’s, whoever the sender, should start with ‘in my opinion’.
All that said, it’s just a (Liverpool) fan’s football forum and, at heart, we all want the best for the club but that doesn’t mean we all have the same opinions about how we should get there.

Listening to what Slot said about Salah, I am expecting him to pick him tonight
Big mistake in my humble opinion.
03 Dec 2025 11:43:19
I'd start him instead of Macca and move Szob into midfield.

03 Dec 2025 14:56:13
A hungry Salah eager to prove everyone wrong is an extremely dangerous player. Mentally he is on another level to most players. The problem is whether we are going to start him, Macca and Isak in the same team against an extremely hard working team.

03 Dec 2025 15:06:28
Salah should never have been given a new contract now in hindsight. He has to be sold in the summer.

I’d start wirtz, izak and salah tonight. Slob, mac and grav in midfield.

03 Dec 2025 18:09:12
"now in hindsight".
Mate if Salah staying is what you wanted then, keep the same energy and stop flip-flopping. Sounds like you are just switching your stance due to the direction the wind is blowing.
Oh and should Salah have a great recovery in form, will you be here to flip-flop again you know, in hindsight? I'll wait.
Agree0
03 Dec 2025 18:16:27
“In hindsight” I mean, are crystal balls going to be handed out to every PL club to predict the future?
The guy banged in goals for fun and assists too. It would have been a hard call not to sign him up after that but let me just check my crystal ball here 😂🙄
Club legend, true professional and I don’t think he’s done just yet.

He earned that new contract, no-one can deny that.
Agree0
03 Dec 2025 22:56:29
he earned it with his more out than in response to a football on tv. clever stuff!
I wanted salah and dvd to go then that might have made this transitional season easier to take the dross we are currently watching!
