So looks like a bit of trouble with these injuries.
17 Oct 2026 17:45:01
Cheer me up Scottie. we've just had an important win we have a squad in a transitional season that is doing great in the circumstances. Trey and Koumas have got opportunities to impress Jacquet, Araujo and Munoz have been great signings. have a coke and a smile kidder and relax.
Agree4
{Ed666's Note - I think Barcola could do with a Coke as it would speed him up a bit the lazy feck.
17 Oct 2026 17:52:48
Jesus we won. Glass half full eh.
Agree5
{Ed666's Note - There’s winning and there’s that
17 Oct 2026 17:55:50
Something tells me we won't be getting much positivity out of Postklopp🤔.
Agree2
17 Oct 2026 17:58:07
Weren't we in transition last season?
Agree2
{Ed666's Note - Somebody needs to explain what a transition is to Barcola
17 Oct 2026 18:26:47
I'm not impressed at all with Barcola so far. He should look at videos of Mane to learn a bit about how to play for LFC.
Agree5
17 Oct 2026 20:29:38
Yay, I asked on here a couple of weeks when the Barcola backlash would start. There's a lot of talk about transition but there's absolute zero tolerance if we don't play to any of the armchair critics idea of perfection.
Personally I find it intolerable when the opposition take it upon themselves to actually try and beat us - they should know that we have the right to just turn up and win - which, oddly, we did today.
Agree6
17 Oct 2026 19:21:06
Agree with you on Barcola Ed. I did say back during the window that I just didn't see what all the fuss was about with him.
Always a poor finisher but didn't realise he was as bad as he was today.
I know others will cite the LASK hat-trick but come on, they're awfu and today was the Premier League.
Just glad of the win today because I thought we'd get a draw. Yes it was awful and we often looked like we were down to 10 men.
When we did break, it looked like we left our brains on the halfway line.
Having said that it's a lucky 3 points, away from home and I'll take it.
Agree0
{Ed666's Note - I’m actually not worried about Barcola as I think he’ll come good but he needs a rocket up his ass and quickly. Klopp would have got him by the throat and would be squeezing the life out of him by now
18 Oct 2026 02:26:00
I don't think Klopp would ever physically assault one of his players, that sounds like the opposite of something Klopp would do.
Agree1
18 Oct 2026 08:24:39
Your reply to me made me laugh Ed666.
I enjoyed that.
The 3 strikers that ended the game yesterday should all go to that same class with Barcola.
Those counters were embarrassing to say the least.
Agree0
19 Oct 2026 10:59:11
Nah, Ed. There's only winning esp. in our situation going into that game, at that ground and against that team.
You may not like what i'm saying. But it's the truth.
Agree0
{Ed666's Note - I dont like it when we win lucky or ugly mate. It just doesn’t sit right with me. We’ll be Man United otherwise.
17 Oct 2026 15:26:38
Jeremy Jacquet = Fantastic signing.
17 Oct 2026 16:21:37
Full Metal Jacquet.
Agree10
{Ed025's Note - he was made of tissue the way he went down King..
17 Oct 2026 17:11:26
Working out better than the last outer garment - Coates.

17 Oct 2026 17:21:32
Credit to Jacquet. Brand new league, new team and manager and hit the ground running.
Agree13
17 Oct 2026 18:14:01
Haha yeah Ed, i spoke too soon.
Maybe we can get him, Conor Bradley and Leoni on the pitch at the same time. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.
Like a Centre Back 3 of Leoni, Van Dijk and Jacquet. A couple of quality wing backs up and down the flanks. Couple of centre mids, 2 wingers and a striker.
The first paragraph was wishful thinking, the second is pure delusion I think haha!
Agree1
17 Oct 2026 19:16:25
That was a ferocious headbutt ed25. It would knock a heavyweight clean out.
It is embarrassing to be fair when these things happen with barely a touch. Stupid by the Brentford player though. Sent off for stupidity as much as anything else.
Agree1
{Ed025's Note - I agree Davey. I just hate all the play acting mate..
18 Oct 2026 07:52:28
Can you play wingers and wingbacks at the same time?
Agree0
17 Oct 2026 15:58:49
On the flip side our midfield is weaker than a newborn lamb.
17 Oct 2026 17:11:06
It was weak enough for three points, if ye want jam on it go the supermarket!
Agree2
18 Oct 2026 04:33:34
Yet, surprisingly, we've won 6, drawn 3 and lost 1 out of our 10 competitive games.
The one we lost was lost initially because of poor refereeing.
We aren't far off - the new coach is doing fine - and you can see a genuine team emerging and this despite crap full backs a crap midfield and crap forwards
As I say some of the (now standard) criticism is away to hell and gone and has no real bearing of anything that's actually happening on the pitch.
Agree1
17 Oct 2026 15:58:16
Kerkez plays with half a brain and one leg.
17 Oct 2026 21:09:48
He has no composure.
Agree0
18 Oct 2026 04:35:22
But he has the backing of the UEFA qualified coach in charge of the team.
Agree2
17 Oct 2026 13:55:49
Here we go again, the dreaded double pivot with szboslaia and macca, which is not going to work.
I want to know when it will sink in with the manager.
Parting of the Red Sea starts at 3pm. This has to stop.
17 Oct 2026 14:06:33
The club needs at least one top midfielder to go straight in. Sobosli has to improve too a lot as a central midfielder.
Agree2
17 Oct 2026 14:30:08
Came in to post same thing. Its going to be dreadful.
Agree1
17 Oct 2026 14:34:30
More than that he has dropped koumas. His confidence must have been at sky high with LASK performance and isak hasn't played in 3 weeks - this is not great management.
Agree5
17 Oct 2026 14:48:33
This surprises you? It's the way Iraola has always played. Maybe Iraola is not the right manager for you.
Agree1
17 Oct 2026 14:56:34
That's fine having a fixed plan @ TFE, I think it's the personnel playing that plan is what the fans are concerned about.
Agree1
17 Oct 2026 16:10:59
Gravenberch missing due to suspension.
I don't know what it is but if feels like all the other teams have improved and even though we have bought players we still seem to need more. Like we are top heavy with wingers and Attacking Mids but still need to solidify the midfield.
Momo Sissoko anyone?

Jude Law to play Bill Shankly in a new series from a the writer of Adolescence. Covering his reign as Liverpool manager. Can't wait will be cracking.
17 Oct 2026 11:38:12
I was just thinking to myself the other day, what a story it is and why something like this hasn't been done yet. Finally, there will be something on TV I actually want to watch.

Can we replace this with the infamous Southampton review - that was a win!
Agree0
17 Oct 2026 06:22:55
Ed001
Can I ask your thoughts on the below:
In terms of the next two windows, I think it's critical award focussed on the following:
RB- A position we really struggle with, Araujo does ok there but I like him at CB more, would love to see Kayode join from today's rivals Brentford personally a proper defender, but we need someone in Jan, and Kayode won't be an option then, who would be your choice?
LB- Kerkez for me is not a Liverpool player, nowhere near smart enough. Maybe an approach for Joaquin Seys though I know nothing about the lad? I really think Lewis Hall would be ideal and prem proven. Who would your choice be?
CM- I would love the reds to go all in on Sadiki, maybe that's possible next summer. Would say his all action style is what we need rather than a typical DM. Who would your choice be?
CB- Hurts to say it but I think it's time for Big Virg and Joe Go to leave. I would be very happy if Zabaryni joined which I hear is a possibility. Would you keep VVD or bring in a replacement?
FW- I would really like to see Endrick join, tempestuos young rascal he might be, but potentially brilliant too. Ekitike will need time and Isak doesn't seem suited to our current style. Would you go for a FW of you happy with what we have?
GK- I believe Allison will go in the summer, wow what a keeper he was. We already bought his replacement I believe in the summer.
Sell or release- Frimpong, Chiesa, Isak, MacAllister, Danns, Elliott (not sure how long he has left on contract) Tsimikas,
I think if Ward could acheive the above the squad would be ready to compete on all fronts.
{Ed001's Note - at right back I don't really see any options out there, as I have not been watching much other than the Premier League lately. Other than Kayode, there is not a lot out there. I hear Wesley is supposed to be good but I have not seen him play, so couldn't recommend him. Maybe we should just look to develop a player? There has to be someone who can be worked on.
I don't have such a downer on Kerkez, I think he will be fine. There are even less left-backs of quality out there.
Sadiki would be my preference, with the way Iraola plays, that mobility he possesses is a massive plus.
If Virgil would accept a reduced salary, I would happily keep him a bit longer. He is proving that he is still capable of holding his own and helping the younger lads along too.
I can't stand Endrick, every time I watch him he is abysmal and rash. But I don't think either Ekitike nor Isak are right for Iraola's way of playing. Koumas is a better fit.
I am not so sure Alisson will go, he loves it at Liverpool and has never made any attempt to leave.}
17 Oct 2026 09:17:08
Id be ok with Virg having a 1 yr rolling contract and if he stays and plays the same amount of games I don't see why he should take a pay cut.
Agree2
17 Oct 2026 09:36:49
Be great if vvd and ali stayed. They both still in top players in league in there positions. Ali injuries would be my only doubt on offering new contract but hopefully if brazil resting him it helps.
Agree2
17 Oct 2026 09:43:58
Even if we only get 20-25 games a season out of Ali, I'd keep him. There is no one else out there like him. Whoever will be 2nd choice next year (Jaros or Brughmanns maybe), it would benefit them to be 2nd fiddle to him and learning from him before making the eventual step up.
Ali is the best keeper I've seen in my lifetime, truly special and I'm not sure we'll have one as good for a long long time.
Agree0
{Ed025's Note - so you never seen Southall or Clemence then Taurus?, Ali is a fine keeper no doubt about it mate and i would say gets in my top 10, it would be at the bottom end though..
17 Oct 2026 10:08:09
I don't believe replacing more and more players and having even more transition is helpful. I don't think we need a load of signings by any stretch. We had this issue with Gakpo in the summer, everyone wanted him gone but why? Have a look at the rest of the league. How many LWs are genuinely better than him?
It's not productive to just get rid of players because they're not 10/10 perfect in our eyes. I don't see how that helps.
A proper DM who can tackle and one more versatile covering defender (essentially someone to take over from Joe Gomez) and I think we're in serious business and can challenge for everything. No need for us to become Chelsea or City and start throwing money at every problem.
Agree2
17 Oct 2026 10:13:36
I have to say Ed025 I never saw Clemence or Southall. I would not say I'm young, but I'm not old. Let's just say my first football memory was the 2002 world cup.
Heard they were both amazing and have seen videos on youtube, but I haven't watched them throughout matches in the same way I've watched Alison. My uncle does like to tell me that England shafted Clemence by putting Shilton in goal and he would have saved the hand of god.
Agree0
{Ed025's Note - i have seen some greats over the years Taurus, Ali is very good but with keepers its about longevity and availability mate and thats why he is not right up there for me, thats not a slur on the guy because they play so many games these days that its a long old slog, ability wise hes hard to beat and he commands his area superbly..
17 Oct 2026 10:18:55
Both Southwell and Clemence were superb to be fair 025, I know you also like the fella with short arms and no brain currently at the Hill Dickinson too, but I don't agree on that one.
Other great keepers would be Schmeical, Seaman, Courtois (he got better after Chelsea), Van De Sar.
Allison would definitely be in the Top 5.
Agree0
{Ed025's Note - its all subjective i suppose Hughesy, i suppose it depends on how old you are as well mate because keepers of yesteryear got very little protection and the likes of Bert Trautmann played in the cup final with a broken neck, the ones you mention are certainly right up there though and thats without mentioning the likes of Gordon Banks and Lev Yashin, it is hard to pick a winner though and Pickford would not be in my top 30..
17 Oct 2026 10:49:33
I do think his injury issues get overstated Ed025. Yes he has missed time out in previous years but when you look at the stats he still plays a lot of matches. Last season he played 35 in all competitions which is a pretty good stack of appearances for someone who is perceived as injury prone.
I do agree with the longevity point, but maybe we have to wait and see how that looks when he retires. He's 34 right now, but I guess we are expecting his niggles to increase with age. Cannot escape age unless your name is Novak Djokovic it seems.
Agree1
{Ed025's Note - fair point Taurus mate..
17 Oct 2026 11:55:07
Been some superb keepers in my lifetime Ali is definitely top ten maybe higher because of recent memories. But I wouldn't like to pick an all time best i'd have sleepless nights.
Agree1
17 Oct 2026 13:27:19
Best keepers of my life:
Alisson, Cech, Schmeichel, Buffon, Kahn, van der Sar. Courtois comes just after these guys.
Neuer has been very good but I've always thought he was overrated and made big mistakes at the worst times - arguably never reached his Schalke potential at Bayern despite a wonderful career.
De Gea was a phenomenal shot stopper but simply too limited elsewhere.
Agree1
17 Oct 2026 12:13:47
Schemical was outstanding goalkeeper I always thought as much as it pains me to say it. Southall also excellent, clem before my time. I do think it more difficult nowadays for keepers ed25 as they have to be v good with there feet also.
Agree1
{Ed025's Note - yeah they do Digger but im not a fan of footballing keepers mate, if they were any good at football they would not be keepers, they are in goal because they are shite..
17 Oct 2026 14:31:00
Would you have Jennings in your Top Ten keepers as well Ed?
Agree1
{Ed025's Note - good keeper CR but i dont think hes in my top 10 mate..
17 Oct 2026 16:01:59
Alisson has been the best Liverpool keeper in the time I've supported LFC.
Dudek and Reina were good, especially Reina when he won the golden glove in the league X2 if I remember correctly.
It was a different time, and he played under Benitez mostly with some solid Midfielders in front of him, Alonso, Gerrard, Mascherano.
We could do with a couple of them now haha!
From the 1990's since I've been watching football up until about 2012 there has been some great keepers, in the Prem and especially abroad.
Some great ones mentioned already.
Casillas wasn't too bad either was he ;)?
Even in the Prem I thought Shay Given was a very good keeper, maybe I'm a bit biased as I'm Irish but he was good for Newcastle for years.
Rustu, Victor Valdes, Van Der Sar also spring to mind. Serie A seemed to have some very good goalies over the years.
Agree1

Julio Cesar how could I forget.
