Strange red card for paqueta today, as many have already pointed out it looked like he was trying to get sent off.
We've seen players lose it. Keane, vieira, balotelli and so on, this don't look anything like that.
Could he be angling for a fall out and move away from the club?
30 Nov 2025 18:39:12
I hinesrly couldn't believe what I was watching even our own players were trying to take him away from the situation which tbh being the arsehole I am I don't agree woth let the opposition get themselves carded for dissent imo, but I just found it to be completely bizarre, I was thinking the ref is giving him a lot of leeway here surely he's gunna realise that he has to stop but nope bloke just kept on beating a dead horse.
This is a genuine question to people who know does he have allegations of betting against him or is it just banter?

There have been very recent allegations of spot fixing against Paqueta.
I'd bet against him deciding to get involved and so soon after he was cleared though.

01 Dec 2025 09:13:09
I thought the ref did well to give him every chance to calm down. Even the Liverpool players were trying to help him avoid a red card but there was no stopping him. His social media posts afterwards were also a bit concerning - like a genuine cry for help.
Agree1
01 Dec 2025 14:17:44
What puzzled me was the ref was reluctant to send him off even after he told the ref to ef off. YNWA.
Agree1
30 Nov 2025 17:55:33
Did anyone else find the red card of paqueta very strange? Maybe he just lost his head and could be jumping to conclusions based on previous allegations but did it not seem like he was actually trying to get sent off.
30 Nov 2025 18:02:27
Same thing happened to Mascherno vs. Man U in 2008ish. Two yellows for dissent.
Flo was superb today.

Shame really as I rate Paqueta and he was having a half decent game too. Something dodgy though.
Agree5
30 Nov 2025 18:55:04
Ref yellowed him when he kicked off immediately after the tackle. Then he kept going over a minute with at least 5 players (from both teams) trying to get him to shut up.
Ref really didn't have a choice.

Have you watched the dross this season nowt to do with winning every game it’s to do with getting battered week in week out with little to zero to be positive about. A poor West Ham team doesn't hide those performances unfortunately.

30 Nov 2025 18:19:06
Very low thinking to believe everything is rosy now. Let’s talk after Sunderland.
Agree10
30 Nov 2025 18:40:28
We haven't been getting battered week in week out, Coulred.
We didn't get battered today. We won and kept a clean sheet which is what Tonto asked could we not be happy about.
If you'd rather focus on the batterings, you do that, mate.

30 Nov 2025 19:55:12

I wonder what everyone thinks about starting ekitike, Wirtz and Isak one day perhaps when we sign a more specialised CDM. Eds was the plan really to rotate them? I remember Howe mentioned he wanted both to play together at Newcastle but they obvs were going to sell isak so not sure whether he was just talking the talk.
I do wonder how effective it could be.
{Ed001's Note - the plan was just to give us two strikers, because we lost 3.}
30 Nov 2025 18:06:40
Thanks ed. On that basis hope we get a pacy winger/ wide forward really miss those days of having peak Salah and mane annihilating teams with their pace.

Watching Chelsea vs Arsenal
Caicedo you stupid idiot
The antics from the Arsenoles are pure thuggery.
They will be champs this season but only from the way the basically con the ref at every opportunity.
{Ed025's Note - jealousy can do strange things to people JLC..
30 Nov 2025 17:29:34
Falling down is hardly thuggery. Both teams are doing it I would say Chelsea much more so. Some good football at times ruined by the modern day player being a total pansy and a cheat rubber stamped by refs and pundits alike. Together they have made football a much harder watch and poorer sport for it.
Agree10
30 Nov 2025 17:32:31
All players are at it ref macaillister for us, embarrassing.

Agree7
30 Nov 2025 17:58:55
I'm not sure they will be, let everyone talk them up. But if city are around the 7-9 point mark after Christmas I'd fancy them to reel them in. I think a true shoe in for the title would have seen that has a huge opportunity today to really lay a glove.
Agree2
30 Nov 2025 18:09:01
Arsenal better defensively than city, if their back 5 stays fit they’re the best team in the league.

30 Nov 2025 18:19:21
It was a good result for the chasing teams, especially City. I didn’t watch it but it’s no surprise if the football wasn’t great.
I don’t know if it’s a levelling up or levelling down going on but other than Arsenal the other top six teams have only shown flashes of quality, or a few back to back good quality games. It’s very much like last season in that respect.
Hopefully Sunderland try to play midweek, that’ll make for a better game.

The amount of going down holding your face when nothing wrong with the player would do your head in. Lfc players do it's well, mac in particular.
The game today between arsenal an chelsea would turn u off football with the amount of faking that going on.
I really don't know why authorities don't stamp it out now they have var and I really can't understand why pundits don't want to call it out either.
Agree4
{Ed025's Note - it should all be called out digger...even if its with retrospective punishments mate, a panel could sit after the games and scrutinize the incidents and dish out bans, fines and suspensions depending on the severity, its making a mockery of the game and it needs addressing..

30 Nov 2025 19:07:20
Exactly ed25. If it's a yellow card to hop the ball in bad humour which is really irrelevant, why isn't it a red card when u hold your face after somebodies hand brushes against it when clearly there nothing wrong with u, trying to cheat to get somebody sent off? It would be eradicated v quickly.
Agree2
{Ed025's Note - the think is Digger referees are scared to death of making a mistake where injuries are concerned, if someone was injured badly and the referee played on we would see law suits all over the gaff mate...where there.s blame there,s a claim and all that malarkey..
30 Nov 2025 19:53:21
West Ham’s yellow card for a fantastic sliding tackle sums up football of 2025, they don’t want any contact. The game is changing into a cheating soft shell of what it used to be.

30 Nov 2025 20:15:58
But that's where var should come in ed25, I understand it difficult for refs to know the difference on the pitch especially when players so good at it. No excuse for var not spotting it.
Agree2
{Ed025's Note - i think they should as well Digger, but it could be hard to prove if someone goes down holding his head mate and those grubby solicitors will be all over it if somebody was hurt and was accused of faking..
30 Nov 2025 20:38:52
Beg Tets, I would never try to offend and if any was taken then my apologies. However, I offer the caveat that although I find your moniker very humourous, surely you can't be serious here? I'm making the assumption that it is supposed to sound like a Scottish accent perhaps? I rest my case.
Thx for the support lads.

Digger, had the same convo w a mate today about the refs "monday morning quarterbacking" their peers' weekend decision making wrt yellow/ reds etc and issuing retroactive bans for feigning injuries, no matter the severity. One match ban first offense, then 2, etc.

I went to my granddaughter’s school concert last week and the 5 and 6 years olds were singing Deck the Halls and outrageously singing that they were going to ‘don (their) gay apparel’. You know what? Not one of the adults rushed to be politically correct - instead people enjoyed the concert for what it was.
Nice to see that sometimes the world doesn’t leap to an erroneous judgemental conclusion. I assume that Beg Tets is supposed to be spoken with a Scottish accent? I hope so I do like a bit of ‘end of the pier’ humour.

30 Nov 2025 17:10:23
3pts in the bag, which was more important than the performance.
Mad to think that considering the run we have been on, we are only 8-11 points off the top. I'm not saying we are going to catch them up off the back of today's result but it shows they ain't running away with it, as many people think.
The balance of the team was much better today and I think we have to go with the same team against Sunderland and Leeds. Get maximum points against both and things will look a little bit better. Although I suspect Salah will start against Sunderland and we will be back to square one.
Slot has saved his bacon for now.
30 Nov 2025 17:22:23
Dropped the worse performing player all season and played a fullback at fullback hardly ground breaking news but delighted with a win.
Agree1
{Ed001's Note - considering the worst performing two players all season have been Konate and Mac Allister, I am not sure he did drop the worst performing player all season.}
30 Nov 2025 17:54:43
I’d drop Mac for Endo against Sunderland.
Agree8
30 Nov 2025 18:35:15
Good win, performance better. Not sure about the balance, no out ball most of the game to right side of the team, Wirtz and Gakpo both on the left side most of the time, Gravy still to high for me he needs to sit more. Fingers crossed for Wednesday v Sunderland. Up the REDS.

The disrespect for Salah is disgusting.
Agree8
30 Nov 2025 18:58:35
I agree, flidby and Ed001. Salah hasn't been the worst performing player this season. He's been poor, by his standards, but he has improved the past few weeks. Its funny how these opinions snowball.
It wasn't that long ago that availability was the best quality.
How many times has Salah been unavailable this season?
Agree6
30 Nov 2025 19:43:37
There’s nothing disrespectful saying Salah doesn’t get in our best 11 anymore. Time catches up with everyone.
Agree2
30 Nov 2025 20:11:49
It ain't disrespectful at all to say the side looks more balanced without him in the team, it did.
He has not been our worst player this season but he's not far behind some of those you call out for poor performances. Yet you don't call him out for poor performances, just because of what he's done. No one is beyond critcisim, even a club and league legend.
Agree5
30 Nov 2025 21:12:06
Very happy with the win and today’s results do put things into perspective, I just don’t think it’s something that will be consistent. At best our results will be patchy under the current system, we just outplayed a very poor team and that was marginally. I don’t think there was much in patterns of play that made me think we would be as good against a much better team. The midfield is the biggest worry for me, that’s where I think we’re being outplayed most games. Sunderland will be a good test.
I expect the players to at least show some professional resolve regardless of whether they want to play for slot or not, so let’s say things hypothetically stay the same, I do see us having more positive results than negative, but it’s not sustainable for a team looking to grow with the same set up long term in modern football. Basically, be happy with the result because Liverpool won, but don’t expect things to suddenly change and click…it never does. I’m sure we can at least pick up form enough to compete and hopefully qualify for top 4/ 5. I hope slot can fully change it around and grow slowly progressing into a dominant team the same way we did under klopp, that’s regardless of what happens this season but something tells me that won’t happen, he either won’t get the chance or will perform too poorly for his position to still be tenable.
Also people need to stop looking at Arsenal, they’re miles ahead of us at the moment regardless of points difference. Manage expectations and aim for top 4/ 5 and hopefully a cup run (wishful thinking), life under slot will be a lot more bearable, if he is to stay. Let Chelsea and city try and catch Arsenal (hopefully) .
Agree1

I'm not saying Salah is above criticism. I'm saying he hasn't been the worst performing player this season. And I'm saying some of the stuff I've read about him is over the top.
Agree2
30 Nov 2025 17:46:37
Don’t know what people were expecting tbh - we were never going there and putting 4 past them!
Regardless of the Slot in or out it was a much needed 3 points and a better team performance - if we were still top or 1 or 2 points off top spot people would be saying what a professional performance it was so let’s give them the team and Slot some bloody credit!
I’ve been critical of him and the players but 3 more points against admittedly a decent Sunderland will put things and our position in a far better prospective.
Looking at the midweek fixtures there are some pretty pivotal games so the league position can change dramatically with so many teams within a few points of each other.
30 Nov 2025 15:18:00

I think we played really well and looked more balanced without Salah.
That said, West Ham are a bit of a joke right now and did not exactly test us. Nothing more than a data point. What will be far more interesting to me is how they respond to going behind.
Paqueta must've had some money on us winning to carry on like that. Such a weird decision for him to make.

No it was not a convincing win but still a win. Team needs to go to a winning run to save slot. Let's see how we play in the next game. Sunderland is in form so it will be a real test whether we can win 2 in a row in the league or not.
Agree5
30 Nov 2025 16:04:54
Thought it was better as a whole, which wasn’t difficult after recent results. Two reasons: the slight change in tactics and that West Ham were very poor. I felt before Paqueta was sent off we were letting them back into game, which again goes back to grievances against Slot. Thankfully the game was killed off in the end.

We won, Isak scored, Wirtz was better and we didn’t concede. Sure we aren’t brilliant by any stretch but you got to start somewhere I guess. It’ll be a slow process after what this team has had to endure in terms of results. Can’t complain too much really 👍.

Here we go: blame Salah time. Salah was benched against Galatasaray and that was an abysmal performance.

Agree with most comments. Gomez kept Knobhead calm for the most part. Very surprised to see him play 90mins. Wirtz really good today! Sobs a bit quiet? Fantastic finish from Isak. Kerkez even looked better. Overall glad we won but Expected much more from West Ham. That red card was crazy.
Sunderland will give much more of a challenge, team of pressing and passion. They won't give up, if we play a slow as we did today they will beat us.
Food for thought. YNWA.

Can’t buy a result, can’t catch a break, playing away against a team on the up with a new manager, can’t defend and toothless in attack.

The club needs 2 CB's in the summer after guehi is signed (possibly) in January. Konates gone, virg needs replace next summer.
We also need two top midfielders. One to replace the macca and another to walk straight in as a top DM.
Arguably we need another left back and right back which is unbelievable really.
Robertson will most likely go and if we sign a quality lb, kerkez becomes the back up.
Right back, frimpong isn't one unless there's a formation change under a new manager. If Bradley's injuries continue, we'll look for another right bk. Squad has been managed appallingly.
30 Nov 2025 15:16:32
Appallingly is a strong word. I would say replace Konate and MacAllister who is just far too passive and weak in the tackle and in possession.
Agree2
30 Nov 2025 15:17:58
I'll add that Kerkez did much better today. Gakpo is a difficult player to link up with.

Agree3
30 Nov 2025 16:01:42
We won the league last year so to say appallingly is not correct. I do agree we need a couple of quality CB’s, and I’d like someone to come in with energy and getting about the park in midfield to replace MacAllister. RB and LB are problem positions but let’s hope Kerkez improves and Bradley/ Frimpong settle down.
Semanyo should provide competition across LW/ RW, and bring some energy we’ve missed since Diaz has left. Despite everything we are only a few points off top 4. Let’s think positive.

Ed01 - In your opinion Enrique is the best coach around at the moment, how, in your opinion, does Iraola compare?
{Ed001's Note - I would have him as the tier next down from the top bracket, simply because he has yet to add trophies. He needs a top tier team to prove that he has that in his locker too, which I think he does.}
30 Nov 2025 12:18:40
Exactly Ed, he needs to move out of a low quality league and take on the weekly grind to prove he is Elite.
Winning the CL when getting kicked about by Burnley the week before and after is not as breezy as it is when faced with average sides in France.

Would love to see any top, top manager survive on average gates of 11,000 which is Bournemouths average attendance, they were fourth from bottom when he arrived last year, took him nine games to get his first win that's how dire the club was.
Iraola is performing absolute miracles with "NIL" resources?
Certainly deserves a top, top club with tactics and coaching second to none!
