The women's game today finished
Aston Villa 2 Liverpool 1

Sad to say but this felt all too familiar for the ladies this season
started with all the possession, went a goal up with a fabulous strike by Natalia Ramos and looked to be in complete control.
The rest of the half saw plenty of opportunities but none that really threatened their goalkeeper.

Second half Villa started stronger, but for me they look a poor side, only striker Grant & the goalkeeper looked decent.

Liverpool started to press again but yet another foray forward meekly came to nothing, the Villa keeper in possession quickly punted the ball long which Grant latched onto and smashed it top corner to equal proceedings 1-1
Quite soon after a very poorly defended corner resulted in an own goal making it 2-1

Despite Liverpool dominating possession again for the remaining
minutes we never looked like equalising, final 3rd options were
Poor all game, our forward players need the ball delivered low, time after time it was played in high, also week snap shots when off balance and / or on their week foot instead of a simple pass to a teammate, time and again resulted to nothing.

3 games now (Man Utd, Man City & now Villa) where we were
looking in control for nearly all of the games, has returned a total
of zero points, lost the lot πŸ™ˆ. seems unreal.

Women's football has improved a lot recently, attacking wise for the most part, but defensively it's still very weak so I'm at a lossto see why manager Gareth Taylor insists on coaching the team to play out from the back, so many mistakes are made week on week (maybe it's his Manchester City connection) it's disastrous.

Games are coming thick and fast now, the forward players especially
need to revert back to playing as a team, not constantly looking for the glory option.

Our ladies will be gutted but they are good enough to put it right,
"collectively" being the key word.

Manchester United next up on Wednesday @ 7 o'clock, we owe
them one for sure so fingers firmly crossed 🀞 for a positive result.

Vivien Endermann must play on the right wing from the start .

Any idea what Dom went off with?

Him and Frimpong both hamstrings.

Edd666 do you really rate him as a central midfielder? He's not a patch on Gerrard. He needs better midfield partners to aid his game but for me, he's not a central midfielder.

No one's a patch on Gerrard. Dont think Doms best in a middle two he's best in the same position Stevie would be. The furthest forward of the 3in MF.

Maybe we should re-sign Gerrard then?

He would be better than Wirtz?

18 Oct 2026 17:04:57
Anyone is better than Wirtz, right?

Rode our luck today I thought, not convincing performance at all. Rio v good when he came on, 2 x cbs also excellent dealt with the set pieces well.
Isak hardly got a kick but his goal world class, touch and bang and that's why u pay the big bucks for somebody to do that and win u the game.

No idea what barcola was doing at the end of the game. Great 3pts.

I agree. Good win on Tired legs.

Exactly LFC8 we had a game less than 3 days ago. Brentford had all week to train for this.

Barcola looked dead on his feet by the end but that will do him good as he builds his fitness up.

A good win against an in form, very good side, especially at home. In the end our extra quality was the difference.

Did anyone see the Morgan Rodger's non yellow today against Everton, honestly embarrassing refereeing- crazy we are playing today without Grav because of the red against City but Rodger's avoided a 100% red today.

Well he is English you know, different rules for homegrown players.

Garner shouldve gone as well then. The refereeing is terrible, inconsistent.

HT and small margins costing us again, Barcola should have us 1 up instead a sloppy ball by McAllister and no effort to cover the run of Lewis Potter has us 1 down. Isak and Barcola have been wasteful as has Wirtz the sending off hopefully has the same effect for us as it did for citee last week. You would expect us to get back in this game against 10 men but it all depends on whether our luxury buys are up for it or not! Szobo injured again made of wet paper bag. nothing going right for Iraola again today.

Come on target a little bit of fight and pride in the jersey, 2nd half its still not good enough from the quality of players we have.

three points is the most important thing, nothing better in the PL than 3 points.

I think Wirtz and Munoz were both the only players who could come away with their heads held high. Barcola was pretty bad. Any 100mn player should score at the very least 2 out of those 3 1v1s. Had he tucked away his chances we might have been pretty comfortable.

3 points in the bag but that was pure stink! Some really shocking performances from Barcola and Isak. Isak got a goal but that can't take away from the fact that he was garbage from minute 1. Barcola was extremely wasteful and whenever there was space to attack he turned down the opportunity which was stark contrast to Munoz and Rio when he came on. Wirtz had a few decent spells but average like the rest.

I just can't understand what we are trying to do in attack? Extremely disjointed and no clear plan and patterns. Got outta jail today.

man cheatys result was a red card stink as well, do you think they were worried? and neither are LFC.

Spent all that money to have an invisible midfield
No shots on target.
See if we can perform against 10 men.

17 Oct 2026 16:11:33
Luxury players not performing yet again waste of good money imo, could and should have been used where it was really needed, but that's down to Edwards and Hughes for leaving Iraola with this mess, he'll need the next 3 windows to sort it out if of course he's given the financial backing.

Thoughts today Edds & Reds?

I would love a clean sheet and a 0-1 result with Wirtz stick from 30 yards lol. Not sure he could reach the goal from that far out! But cheeky deflection will do πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

Depends on who is available. Doesn't look like the injuries have cleared up so it will essentially be similar to the team played in the CL with Kerkez, Macca and Virgil coming in from the start.

We may see JJ rested with Frimpong starting and maybe Victor starting instead of Rio?

I think this is a very difficult game for us and would be happy with a draw.

I'm with Ed

I'll do a close 1-2 to us.

Great result - fast, direct and confident football!

Performances have started to step up the last couple of games (ignoring what happened after the sending off against city!)

Any day u pick up 3pts away from home in champ league is a good day. oppostion not great but that's not our problem.
Great to see our forwards play with a bit of a swagger. we looked like scoring every time we went forward.

Nice confidence booster ahead of a tricky Premier League fixture. Some nicely taken goals, with Koumas, Rio and Barcola the pick of the attackers.

I would add that even Frimpong did well. A goal and two assists. He may not be great defending but an option attacking certainly.
