I think it's safe to say no information shared is 100%.
It all feels very chaotic as a fan and very worrying as let's face it that's what us fans do.
Slot stays, slot goes, we need this player and that player, Rio is going on on loan but we need wingers.
Whatever the plan is, as much as Hughes, slot and Edwards have seemed to get this all wrong... The only hope is they have a plan and intend to fix what's gone wrong.
I firmly beleive slot didn't get what he wanted last summer, not totally and the worrying issue is, his inept ability to get them ticking, maybe that's fitness, injuries, personal.
Everything is fairly guess work.
The team lacks what it lacks and it's very obvious what's required next season. Like I said they are not stupid men and will have a plan we can only hope it's a good one and executed.
There is a good base and some great prospects in the market. This season is a hit and hope because slot hasn't looked like fixing any issues that have arisen this season.
I'm not having slot has picked the ins fully and due to that is getting some grace maybe the model has changed as they feel Klopp had to much power. Something isn't right!

As much as Slot is at fault for a lot of things, he has been let down by poor recruitment. Ekitike and Isak are both much better than Nunez and Jota, but not when it comes to pressing and off the ball work. Same with Diaz. We needed two wingers, which I hope is rectified in the summer.

We should be looking within the Prem for midfielders in the summer. The following is a list of talent we should be looking at to replace Jones, Endo and Macca.
Noah Sadiki 21
Lewis Miley 19
Alex Scott 22
Lucas Bergvall 20
Archie Gray 20
Adam Wharton 22
Andre 24
Mateus Fernandes 21
Joao Gomes 25
All attainable except perhaps Miley.

And Anderson, if we can convince him. Don't know, unless you try.
16 Apr 2026 20:33:39
Can see Alex Scott happening with Hughes here. Think they'll go for Archie Gray too.
16 Apr 2026 22:37:22
If they don't get a proper defensive midfielder again then it's another season of failure incoming.
16 Apr 2026 22:38:21
Scott is a good player, but is he going to improve our midfield? I am not sure he will.
Also, why don't we go back and get Nico Williams back? He is on fire at the moment and better right back than Frimpong.
YNWA.
16 Apr 2026 23:00:48
The time for that was before he signed an extension at Forest, Albey.
17 Apr 2026 15:37:56
Hey Florian, my friend, contracts are only there to secure a large transfer fee. They really are meaningless, just security for the club.
YNWA.
17 Apr 2026 18:54:27
I get that, Albey. Just can't see the club paying a big fee for Neco, that's all.
16 Apr 2026 16:13:27
@jonnyno6… I’m pretty sure the window cleaner said otherwise about slot… So I’ll wait & see who’s ITK.

Can anybody name one player that Slot has improved since at the club? Under Klopp and even BR they improved players which also increased their value and made them huge assets to the club which allowed us sell on for massive profit to improve our squad.
I see nothing but regression from every single player he inherited or brought into the club.

He's made every opposition player look world class. Does that count?
16 Apr 2026 16:57:25
Last season you could say Gravenburch and Gakpo plus Salah arguably peaked. Szoboszlai has developed and Rio is coming along nicely.
16 Apr 2026 16:59:22
Now that's funny, Shipley... well played, mate. ?
Take a bow!
16 Apr 2026 20:59:51
Maybe Dom?
Ekitike looks like he became better since coming in. Then again you could argue he then went a bit backwards after a strong start.

RIP Alex Manninger, another gone too soon.
{Ed025's Note - yeah really sad BK..

Alex RIP.

Considering our season is pretty much dead, I have a question about managers. Moreover, about ex players who become managers, especially after seeing the work ex players have done to manage teams to CL semis.
Question is threefold.
1. Do ex players make better managers than non ex players?
2.
Do ex players who played in certain positions make better managers? eg. Ex strikers better than ex midfielders.
3. Do ex players who were at a higher elite level become better managers than those ex players who were never at elite status?

I don't think that being an ex player or not comes into it other than you are more likely to be given that first opportunity over somebody who has never played.
I'm certainly no expert, but for me it would be about footballing intelligence and those elite players who possess a footballing brain to read, control and influence the game whilst playing will likely be good at doing the same from the sidelines as a manager.
The elite players who are naturally gifted players who play purely on god-given talent and instinct are probably less likely to succeed in management.
As for position, there are plenty of examples of top managers who played in all sorts of different positions so I'm not sure that really comes into it (but now I'm considering starting a thread of best 11 of players who went on to become top managers).
16 Apr 2026 23:01:06
I think being a big name ex player can command a level of respect. I wouldn't suggest him taking over for a second, but if Gerrard walked in as manager in the summer, he'd have a lot more respect from players than someone like Iraola.
We need a personality. Slot isn't that. Klopp is. Mourinho is. Simeone is. Alonso could be that on top of being an excellent manager who's shown he can win titles.
16 Apr 2026 12:17:33
If Slot stays on as manager it will have catastrophic consequences on the club both on and off the field. He'll be scked by next October anyway at the latest. It just doesn't make any sense to keep him.
Agree2
16 Apr 2026 13:26:56
100% agree, this summer is huge, a lot of work needs to be done. How can the club justify investing more money into a project that spent 450m and went ass backwards? It is beyond me. Come October, that leaves us up s*** creek, right back where we were in December with no suitable replacement available.
Get the right man in for the job, come May, and give him what he needs for his vision, because clearly Slot and Edwards don't actually have one. Anything less is completely unacceptable.
16 Apr 2026 08:49:03
Now that Ekitike is out for 9 months, is there any chance that the hierarchy could ask Salah to stay till Xmas? With Isak so injury prone, we are very light up front.

16 Apr 2026 10:13:39
No.
Isak should be fully fit, Danns and Wright will likely get chances off the bench, plus we have other forwards who can also cover through the middle.
Rather than making him stay, focus should be on getting a top quality Salah replacement who could potentially also offer cover through the middle.
16 Apr 2026 10:28:54
I agree with you there, Shipley. Always look forward. Who knows, this could be the opportunity that Danns and/or Will Wright need to break through.
16 Apr 2026 10:30:05
Would be an upside to signing Gordon. Can go through the middle.
16 Apr 2026 12:43:21
Can see Gakpo getting another year as striker.
Cheaper option on the wing, like that Toure guy maybe.
16 Apr 2026 12:43:44
Gordon is as crap through the middle as he is out wide. Doesn't have two brain cells to rub together to make a spark nor the end product. Only thing he's fit for is being a stunt double for Claire Balding at Crufts.
16 Apr 2026 13:28:35
Cracker that, Viktor.
16 Apr 2026 15:59:33
Only thing is he'd be away at the World Cup for a team that will go far so that could slow down any move.
16 Apr 2026 08:37:21
Really hope we are smart and sensible in the market this summer. If we could pick up Senesi on a free for CB cover and Mingueza for RB for free that's two positions covered for only signing on fees. For me we need two midfielders and id like us to go for Alex Scott and Joao Gomes. Both could be had for sensible fees.
Stiller another one if we can't get the two I mentioned. Money needs to be saved for two new wingers. Diomande is a must and perhaps someone like Alikouche.
For me we need:-
CB cover
RB starter
2x midfielders
2x wingers
Nyoni and McConnell need looking at and a decision made if kept or a prem loan.

16 Apr 2026 10:20:57
We need to sign a starting RB, RW and CM for me. Then, it is about building squad depth.
In addition to Nyoni and McConnell, there is also Luca Stephenson. For me, he would be a great alternative to somebody like Endo, as he is able to cover DM and CB. I think we could really have used him at times this season.
16 Apr 2026 10:34:15
Think Stephenson's done very well in Scotland. Be good to have a look at him in pre season.
