I see the Rafael Leao links are back in the online media today. I really want to believe we'll be shopping at the level of Leao, Barcola, Diomande and Olise. If we added 2 wingers of that caliber we'd be some team next season. Isak would also have a field day next season with that kind of service.

Looking at where Wirtz plays for Germany, and they always have him on the left in a 4231. Occasionally on the left in a 433 and the left 10 in the odd occasion it's a 3421. So with that in mind do we see a 4231 going forward with Wirtz on the left with Dom in the middle?

This new manager talk is starting to get a bit tiresome. We are left with the following:-
Slot stays for the last year of his contract. At the end of it all three of Slot, Hughes and Edwards leave.

Slot goes and is replaced by someone new. Contradictory reports of it being Alonso or now Hoeness.

Iraola is liked but wants to return home.

Could it be a lot of disinformation is being put out to find or plug the leaks? For me no matter who's in charge next season, we must get recruitment spot on and the players need a look in the mirror and put a shift in next year.

All hope is not lost. We can still, theoretically, win the league.

The ditties on Carol these days, and arse, walking round looking like Iggy Azalea from the neck down. Hadn't seen her for years, couldn't believe what I was looking at.

Club re-iterating what I have been saying for months. Alonso is just not the right guy for us. Glad this chapter is over.

I like slot in the fact that he has been not been affected by all the crap published and said about him in media and has instilled enough confidence in powers that run the club to back him at least publicly unlike some other clubs.

Now he just needs to change his tactics to get these playing to their best potential.

But he won't change. He hasn't since March last year when we'd already won the league. If we hadn't fluked those first 4/5 wins we'd be looking at the middle to bottom of the table. Simply not good enough. 5th place is not guaranteed and we're 20 odd points off the top.

It's not a blip. It's a huge mistake to keep him. He's stubborn and the football is boring and he alienates players. I don't like it. Thanks for the league title now move on.

Cafu, why should he change now? He's fundamentally changed the way the team plays, which started last February and we've gotten steadily worse ever since. The tactics seem non existent, the style of play is horrendous, you could drive a bus through the holes in our midfield every game, the slow style doesn't fit the players & he's changed the training to such a extent that the players are not fit enough to press or run for 90 mins which is why we've struggled increasingly badly the longer the game goes.

Have there been any signs things are improving? What are you seeing the rest of us can't? We can't blame new players & transitioning this season because we were awful at last 3 months of last year by which time Slot had instilled his methods & klopps was being phased out.
We've gone from being extremely good to watch to being one of the worst.
If he stays worrying times indeed - think it'll be a Rodgers and he'll be out by Christmas but then all the best options will be gone

If the Alonso deal is not getting done it has absolutely nothing to do with the club "thinking he's not the right man for the job". that's complete and utter nonsense mate, we wanted him when Klopp left, he was first choice over Slot, and he's first choice now. The most obvious issue putting a stop to the deal would be the lack of control he would have over the direction the club wants to take the team in regards to transfers & contracts under the current model.

A few on here felt from day 1 that Hughes/Edwards might need sacking to bring in Alonso, and as I said before there's no way FSG aare going to sack everybody in one fell swoop, even if they wanted to, the optics of that are just way to negative. If they could bring Xabi in under the current model they would, no doubt, the club has no issue with Alonso, it's Alonso that has issue with the club, if he's not coming in, it's by his own design.

See Chelsea have sacked another manager. How many is that now in last 5 years?

8, I think.

Do they need to pay off his 6 year contract? Of so the culture of rewarding failure is staggering.
6 years football manager salary for 3 months work and not even doing well. Madness.

What’s the perfect summer, lads, with ins and outs?

Mine goes -
Outs -
Gomez - 8-10m
Robbo - Free
Endo - 6-8m
Elliot - 25-30m
Macalister - 50-60m
Gakpo - 50-60m
Bajetic - 15m
Salah - Free
Chiesa - 15-20m
TOTAL - Around the 160m mark.

Ins -
Diomande - 70m plus add ons.

Joao Gomez - 30m
Djed Spence - 25m
Adam Wharton - 65m plus add ons
Endrick - Loan with a buy clause (80+?)
Cheap Striker for cover 20m max?
TOTAL - Around the 240m mark with the loan fee.

Should have some cash to spend and we will be saving money on wages of a few we have let go.

Gakpos not going anywhere with Ekitike out for a year.

Djed Spence??

DJED SPENCE!?!?!?!?

Why does everyone seem to be so intent on selling Baj? He hasn't played in 2 years, no body is going to pay 15mn for him. On the other hand, if he can recover properly, he might actually be a very useful Endo replacement, and someone by virtue of his qualities on the ball, Slot might trust a lot more.

Risser (GK), A.Gray (RB/DM), A.Wharton (CM), L.Camara (DM/CM), Y.Diomande(RW/LW), B.Toure (LW, LWB).

Plus adding some more young players from M.Mane, S.Mayulu, J.Monga, D.Banjaqui, A.Bouaddi and C.Yirenki - subject to cost.

Never played it before, Chaningofthegvardiol.

I am simply looking at how many players will be left after this set of directors have shipped out everyone.

Mo, Alisson, Robbo, Macca, Curtis, Chiesa and possibly Gomez leaving while Bradley, Ekitike have long term injuries from a squad is already thin.

DJed Spence? No thanks.

As for Endrick he should not even be in the conversation given how he was actively trying to injure our players a couple of years back for Madrid.

There are a lot of articles saying that Slot will remain as Liverpool's Head Coach next season, and if you think about why these reports keep coming out, it could be that Alonso turned down Liverpool or that the negotiations didn't go well.

Two wins and we get Champions League. Don't see others below winning all their games.

I was thinking the same whilst trying to figure out who our most likely challengers for 5th spot would be. As it stands I'm thinking Bournemouth.

To be safe, win our 3 remaining home games and then I believe CL is guaranteed.

It's scarily tight back there. If everybody wins their games in hand Chelsea could drop to 13th (admittedly only if Fulham won 12-0)!

Brighton worry me the most at the moment, they're in great form with 4 wins from 5 and we've already played them twice. With Newcastle, Wolves and Villa coming up I don't see why they can't get 9 points from their next 3. They have United for their final game so add blasphemy to your list of sins.

Bournemouth, similarly, only have one really tough game on paper, their 2nd last against City, but they haven't been in the best of form. I think Fulham, Palace or even Leeds could take points off them.

Brentford have drawn their last 5 and still have to play Utd, City and Us. They haven't a chance.

Chelsea have Rosenior.

Given the number of clubs that CAN reach 61 points - Everton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Sunderland and Brighton - we need 3 wins.

But we should be getting 5 wins and pushing for 3rd/4th.

2 wins and 2 draws will do it, none of them bar Brighton are capable of going on an unbeaten run Zed.
