As a break from the usual, how about everyone’s top sports movies? Not documentaries, dramas.
In no particular order I would go for any of Moneyball, The Natural, The Hustler, Color of Money, Slapshot, Rocky, Escape to Victory, Jerry Maguire, Chariots of Fire, Rollerball (the James Caan one) .
Putting my cards on the table I would opine that The Hustler the best movie, Color of Money the most insightful, The Natural the most emotional, and Slapshot the funniest (though a nod should go to Happy Gilmore, even though golf isn’t really a sport…) .

Out of all them monster id have to go slapshot.
02 Dec 2025 22:46:49
Slapshot is just so great. I fear it is too slow to try out on my kids, but the slow opening has such a pay off with the 3 peacenik dudes who turn out to be total maniacs.
I sort of feel a weary, pre heart bypass Souness saw that movie, and thought that’s how he wanted us to play.
03 Dec 2025 01:21:31
Moneyball was good, I’ll have to rewatch some of the others. There haven’t been many when you think about how obsessed we are with sport in the UK and US. I know documentaries were excluded but the McEnroe Borg one was a good watch.

Dodgeball or Blades of Glory.
03 Dec 2025 09:26:15
no particular order Rush, Coach Carter, A league of there own, Remember the titans. not really a sports film but Dodgeball always makes me laugh.
03 Dec 2025 11:12:05
Caddyshack and it’s not even close. Rodney Dangerfield lit up every scene he was in, he improvised through the film and wasn’t scripted, just told what everyone else’s lines were, what the scene was and guided by Harold Ramis.
03 Dec 2025 11:50:39
Don't know if this would qualify because it is a documentary, but When We Were Kings is a fantastic and fascinating movie about the Ali-Foreman fight. I remember that fight as a child and brings back a lot of memories.
03 Dec 2025 13:01:27
If your into motorsport Ford v Ferrari is great. Shouldn’t of started this thread we’re in Christmas movie mode in our house we have been since October truth be told.

Hello all. Question for Eds/ all of the ITKs
According to indykaila, LFC are eyeing a January move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson. His starting price will be €30 million apparently.
You think there's truth to this story or agent pushed atm?
Agree0
02 Dec 2025 19:56:30
There has been noise from his agent as his contract is another year closer to ending. Indykalia is no doubt having a stab in the dark. Good player nonetheless.
02 Dec 2025 21:42:45
Ederson would give us the tenacity and legs in the midfield that we need, would be a good piece of business however is he seen as a priority? Given Carra’s previous post about potential exits of Gakpo or Macca could we be looking at replacing both with Semenyo and Ederson? Personally would like to keep Macca and replace jones with Ederson as Macca will come good but with a fair few links coming out recently about midfielders I wonder is there more to the Macca exit talk?
03 Dec 2025 00:31:34
Macca is usually better after Christmas, but it’s a mystery to me how a seasoned international at that level only plays half a season each year. Maybe there’s underlying fitness issues with him, or maybe the league is just too intense at the beginning when most teams are fresher.
Whatever it is it’d be nice to have another option off the bench, or to rotate. He does roll about too much as well of course.
03 Dec 2025 09:42:25
We are looking at cheap CM options for Jan.
02 Dec 2025 13:58:12
So just to clarify, alonsos currency is his first season at leverkusen? He did well for one season in a farmers league as a whole.
For the club to want a man to lead us for probably atleast 3,4 years and who is currently wobbling in Madrid is a red flag.
Xabi would have always chose Madrid over us. Now he's potentially looking the door if the cards really begin to fall and he's our "top target" is strange.
Enrique I would have thought would have been the dream target like klopp was all those years ago. Most likely in the summer. Or even iriola who's proving to be doing a great job in the Premier league.
Alonso has done very little to warrent being gifted a very special job.
I really hope slot wakes the F up and gets this team playing far better football and sorting out the defense. Id like to see this team turn it around under slot atleast until the summer. Xabi is a big risk from what I've seen weekly on the pitch and we could go down a united rabbit whole here. Chosing the wrong men to lead us and sink down the league.
I watch Madrid all the time and it's not much better than this lads atall.

02 Dec 2025 21:10:33
Agreed there is no guarantees with Alonso and I personally would prefer Enrique but alonso was our no 1 choice post Klopp and I don’t think his stint at Madrid will dampen that enthusiasm. Madrid is a basket case of a club who run through managers like disposable gloves because of there ego inflated squad who are a bunch of pre Madonna’s.
Alonso’s teams can play good football but I would have question marks over his performances in Europe and I’m not sure if his preferred formation would cut it in the premier league if we have aspirations of challenging for titles, having said that alonso prefers wing backs, emphasis on the 10 and a strong number 9 and these were our big signings this summer…could these be a nod to where we say ourselves going?
02 Dec 2025 22:50:40
Batman, I agree on Alonso. It’s why I want Slot to turn things round.
03 Dec 2025 08:22:24
You saying that Alonso currency is off one good season but maybe Slot just had his one good season too with us.
03 Dec 2025 10:12:41
Sorry but I don't agree.
Most managers that go to Real fail because of the politics, fans and player power. Its obvious half the squad our 'Prima Donnas' and don't like to work too hard, are not buying into his tactics and certain players can't be in the same team.
If he had stayed at Leverkusen or came here, it would of been a different story for him.

02 Dec 2025 11:46:41
Alonso is just another Villas Boas, I think people are just desperate to see Slot go, totally ignoring the fact Alonso doesn’t do anything that’s particularly impressive in his management style. Or appears much of a change to Slot, in fact he appears to be doing the exact same thing to his squad as Slot, completely losing them. He doesn’t fill me with excitement or confidence. He just had one of those ‘one off’ seasons, same as Slot.
If he had retained the Bundesliga you could have made a stronger case, but predictably he couldn’t once Bayern got back to being a little better than mediocre.
Enrique would be the stand out, clear style, actually looks like he knows what he’s doing. Makes players work to his system.
Conte would do a decent job, Simeone would be an interesting one if moving club could galvanise him back to being the absolute troll he was, but he does appear on the downward trajectory.

Is Semenyo Really neccessary at all?
Amongst all the Transfer rumours surrounding liverpool semenyo has been linked the most and arguably has the highest possibility of being the transfer that comes into fruition in this winter window (Other than Guehi)
Personally i don't see the reason or neccesity for semenyo, sure he's good but i don't think he's that good that the club needs to splash 70 million and even if he does come to the club what position will he take. I know the obvious answer is the RW as he's mo salah's replacement but i'd argue Chiesa is much better there and chiesa can still give us a good 4-5 years of service so what's the point?
But what do you all think?
Agree0
02 Dec 2025 09:24:46
Salahs off to the afcon and needs replacing anyway so yeah we do need him.
02 Dec 2025 09:56:00
I love Chiesa and he can play RW but I don't think it's his best position. He is most effective playing narrow off the left (I'd love us to try him and Kerkez playing together on the left with Chiesa tucking in and Kerkez providing the width to see how it works) . Semenyo is very comfortable at RW but can also play all across the front line so provides options/ competition for all 3 positions.
I've wanted us to sign another RW for a long time as competition/ backup for Salah and now Salah's form has made this very high priority. RW and CB are both hugely in need of strengthening so if we could sign Guehi and Semenyo in January it would be a fantastic transfer window.
02 Dec 2025 12:40:26
A top, versatile energetic player with a decent release clause, yes please.
Chiesa hasn't shown in the last couple of years that he is currently better than Semenyo.
02 Dec 2025 19:57:24
Ernest I'm not sure the lads had the chance to prove himself.
When he does get a game it's a bit part or playing with a weakened cop team.
The lad has somthing about him. When he's pushed up front he always offers a run! Looks to play on the half turn and looks for a quick smart ball ) Ian rush type pass) he's miles ahead of the midfielders on the ball at times. He is alway trying to turn the defence around. By god the lad looks like he's having a go. Which frankly is much moor than the rest of the front line. Yes a little erratic at times. but effort non the less. I love him. YNWA.

Must be really difficult coming in to a club with our profile, as a player or manager. You’re picked apart before you start, never mind after you’ve got here. That comes with the territory, and our expectations are rightly high, but it just shows you’ve got to be special to succeed. I’d give any player a half season at least to settle and get established, even the likes of Wirtz. After that it’s fairer game and easier to judge. Not sure where that leaves Chiesa tbh as he’s never had a run of games.
With the coach you can usually tell a bit about them from the handling of the press, but with the directors buying the players it’s hard to judge. We see selections and in game management, but don’t know much about player fitness or training. Alonso, Iraola and Arne have all had good seasons and bad spells but I wouldn’t know who’s the best of the three. Probably just about Arne on trophy count, but Iraola hasn’t had the right club. Enrique probably stands out from everyone because he’s done it time and again over a long period of time with different clubs.
01 Dec 2025 16:12:03
Dear Ed1 and others,
I totally agree with you about Mac Alister's antics. Are the fans the only ones to be offended by this. He should be proud to play for us and give his all instead of showing us up with pathetic tricks.
Slot should have threatened to haul him off every time he messed about.
This is part of the reason why I'm not appreciative of the Dutch coaches. They are too easy going.
Rant over!

It's annoying but I'm more concerned about his inability to find a teammate with a simple pass.
01 Dec 2025 16:35:47
Ah c'mon now he's hardly a Richarlison, Merino or a Neto. Acts the maggot a bit but there are far far worse culprits in the league.
{Ed025's Note - no, hes worse than those lot you mentioned mate,,
01 Dec 2025 19:01:09
His feigning injury yesterday was embarrassing- and it’s not the first time he’s done it
Someone will go through him one day just to stop him crying wolf.
01 Dec 2025 19:19:51
Got to agree with ed25 Mac is a pain in the arse Feckin rolling about etc.
{Ed025's Note - its just not the Liverpool way Reusch, never has been and never should be mate..
01 Dec 2025 19:24:15
Not a patch on any of them 3,absolute Charlatans.
01 Dec 2025 00:32:08
It was a good steady win Gomez did great at RB, and Wirtz did well so we should be happy the team took 3 points away from home and a clean sheet.
Football style is very boring though.
Agree10
01 Dec 2025 20:01:18
Big Joe Gomez was solid at the back, I was impressed for a number of reasons,
With Gomez at the back, it kept the er midfielders er in midfield,
It took a lot of pressure off Konate,
It gave the backline a bit more height,
We had a better balance,
Kerkev was able to attack more often,
So yes I was pleased, I hope Slot has seen the light.
03 Dec 2025 08:28:47
It was West Ham, let's see how he does when we play a football team, hopefully he plays well. as we need a RB.
30 Nov 2025 20:35:45
Thought Wirtz was great today, a deserved man of the match. I really find him a joy to watch. Jogo was very sharp. I hope he gets a run in the team.
Agree18
01 Dec 2025 09:15:03
More importantly for Joe, I hope he can stay fit enough to have a chance at a run in the team. It will be interesting to see if he is fit enough to play again on Wednesday!

Question
I looked up the assistant coaches roles. There is nothing that says they work with offense, defense or various groups. Just assistant coaches in charge of training. Only exception is keeper. So the question is why aren't position coaches utilized? NFL has assistants for each position group. Do you all think it would be advantageous to implement that? Assistant in charge of the Back 4, 1 for Midfield, 1 for Attack drilling each position towards the common team tactics. Is this already taking place? Im just curious what GVB does or doesn't do to get all the hate.
Agree2
01 Dec 2025 09:23:04
I think it's already a thing. Assistants help the Manager with an overall view of the squad and oversee all aspects but I'm pretty certain that there are also other coaches who sit below the assistant (s) who specialise (GK, set piece, defence, attack etc) .
As for GvB. I think that most people don't like us pushing Grav further up the field and leaving the midfield empty which is likely to have come from GvB as it is a tactic he has used at his previous clubs.
01 Dec 2025 12:08:06
Well if we have a set piece coach he is stealing a wage from the club.
01 Dec 2025 14:49:20
It's a guy called Aaron Briggs. He was brought in as an 'individual development coach' but was asked to be the set piece coach too. I don't think it is necessarily his fault that the club is asking him to do this secondary role rather than hiring a specialist.

I think Salah deserves more respect than what he is getting on here today.
Agree5
30 Nov 2025 19:34:13
Totally agree JLC
Agreed his form has nosed dived but that’s along with nearly every player in the squad bar Slob and Perhaps Hugo .
He’s been a brilliant match winner for us over the years and people have short memories and I wouldn’t bet against him getting his form Back
I’ve a feeling he might start on weds and put in a performance.
30 Nov 2025 19:35:26
Why? . "What have u done for me lately?
30 Nov 2025 20:07:17
Its not about not having respect.
Hes been a passenger at times but because he is capable of those moments of magic, is never held accountable for being utter crap sometimes. Its like playing with 10 men half the time.
I'm not saying the man ain't a legend of the club and league, just that he is a player like every other one that plays for us and should be judged the same way.
Its also not disrespectful to say the team looks more balanced with him not in it, because it does.
{Ed025's Note - pretty fair points i would say TF..
30 Nov 2025 20:09:21
He has looked better the last couple of games. The rw looked empty without him today. But the best part he was warming up and sat on the bench with a smile on his face. Not sulking, definitely to much wan being spouted towards him, Spose it’s because he’s set the bar so high we expect more.
01 Dec 2025 09:28:26
Happy to recall him refreshed on Wednesday, drop Dom into midfield and Macca onto the bench!
What I don't need to see will be him paying 90 anonymous minutes. If he can't get in the game, bring him off and give somebody else a chance!
