Ok. He's no longer in charge!

In my opinion Slot should be been sacked in December - since January 2025 our football has stagnated, been boring, and we've struggled for consistency and inspiration. We did win the league, but we limped to it, and our trajectory had continued downward.

There is so much wrong with the team and how they are playing, which is shocking for a group so talented, and the buck rests with Slot and his coaching staff.

Nearly half a billion spent to end up in an absolute shambles is an achievement in itself from Slot, and before a certain poster claims Liverpool didn't spend that much. Isak, Wirtz, Frimpong, Kerkez, and Ekitike cost nearly half a billion. That's a fact.

04 Mar 2026 09:33:07
This is my concern. We heavily invested and have a threadbare squad. Realistically, we are in desperate need of players (unsure how many from the academy can take the step).
Van Dijk only has a year or so left.
Salah needs to go.
Gakpo needs to go.

RB, as we can't rely on Bradley.
Konate should go after this season.
Macca has been poor.
Jones could go.
Robbo might go due to lack of game time.
Still no DM unless the new manager puts Grav in his best position.

We spent 450m and still have this many issues?!

04 Mar 2026 17:41:08
Yep, another record spend needed this summer, lads. Get the tissues in early. I reckon 2 or 3 wingers, a coupla midfielders, a right back, a centre back (if Ibou goes), a possible left back, a possible Alli replacement. Just as well we have a squad full of top players who all the top clubs will pay big for.

04 Mar 2026 21:18:29
Part of the reason for the threadbare squad is the lack of rotation last season. This still bugs me. Our "squad players" were sold off - balancing books and all that, but that has left gaps. This, combined with an ageing team needing widespread investment, which, whilst it looked great, has been exposed badly this season.
We lack homegrown players now - Elliott, Quansah, Morton, etc., were cast aside; perhaps they were "not good enough", but I honestly don't feel they were given anything like the chances they deserved.

We lack pace and creativity in wide areas.
We lack power and steel in midfield.
And, obviously, as well as a centre back, we need a reliable full back option.
You can't always get what you want, but considering how much we invested, I think the overall balance needs addressing.
Ultimately, Slot should have done more with the squad, especially with youth, whilst upper management should have provided a better-balanced squad.

04 Mar 2026 21:28:58
Gonna have to make a few "opportunistic" signings.

04 Mar 2026 07:03:40
It's sad to see us like this, no doubt but again, one needs to fear an opponent that has nothing to lose. Wolves were one and we went lacklustre as usual against them. That's on Slot for failing to come up with a working system. But how poor could we be? Salah and Gakpo have been useless almost all season. Our midfield, which is unchanged to tht of the title winning one, have all of a sudden turned cheese and anything can cut through it with ease.

One thing is fear might happen is the regret that Slot wasn't sacked post PSV game. How do you go from winning the league to becoming this farcical tactically? He runs his mouth about boring football due to corner kick routines but has served us worst all season. Don't get me started with Hudges and Edwards. How can someone not see that semenyo and Guehi aren't worth the trouble? Both have improved City at our expense and those clowns are responsible for the miss. Anyways, we still got a big chance to get in those top 5 spot but the sooner the club make changes, the better for us.

Dire. The Athletic states that Liverpool now have the record for most losses due to a goal scored after 90 mins. Ever. That's an indictment itself.

Each time Slot takes off Konate, puts a midfielder to RB, then puts in Chiesa, it results in a goal for the opposition.

It's depressing.

Worse, because over the summer we could not believe our luck that FSG seemed to be going all in to strengthen and take advantage.

But with death, many major injuries, and form falling off a cliff, we are left with having to digest this bag of worms.

Almost all of the attention on this site seems to lay the blame at Slot's feet (I'd suggest 60% of posts), players (25%), and Hughes/Edwards (15%).

Style of play - 100% Slot
Form - 100% players
Lack of depth - 100% Hughes/Edwards

Sigh.

04 Mar 2026 02:16:49
Gakpo
Mo
Macca

Three guys who play all the time and who under-perform time and time again.

Konate, Kerkez were on that list for me too, but they've made improvements since first half of season.

My only gripe with Slot is what seems to be his inability to drive competition within the squad he has.

You may agree that Endo, Nyoni, Chiesa, Rio etc aren't good enough.

But imo, that isn't a good enough reason to never rotate them into a starting role or given greater responsibility off the bench

Gakpo, Mo and Macca play as if there is no pressure on them to earn their place. And I think that is a dangerous place to be for any squad.

imo that Impacts the performance levels of not only those three but also the wider squad who must be thinking "what's the point".

Your only gripe with Slot?

04 Mar 2026 06:46:47
You could fill our squad with the best players in the world in every position and it wouldn't matter. You can't play this style of football and expect to succeed in this league.
Slot can moan about it as much as he wants, but the league isn't going to change for him.

When teams come out and play, we usually destroy them, so why would they do that?
Slot is basically whining, "Why won't our opposition play to our strengths!? It's not fair! Wah, wah, wah."

04 Mar 2026 07:17:28
I'm always amazed at just how fast other teams play against us. We've moaned about the low block or set pieces. The truth is, we can have all the possession we want, but when we have an opportunity, we are ponderous and slow.

Whereas, when our opposition gets an opportunity to break, they do with speed and precision (Wolves a perfect example last night).

Slow, safe, ponderous, side passes, 2-3 touches, slow it down, play it safe, keep the ball. Oops, lost the ball, 0-1 down.

04 Mar 2026 19:56:10
JLC - yes it is my only gripe. I'm not blaming him for edwards signing players to play Slot's style at Feyenord as Ed1 said, and then giving him attacking fullbacks to play his Feyenord system that suited inverted fullbacks. And for not getting wingers who can beat a man which his Feyenord system thrived off of.

Well, on that perhaps Slot should or should have pivoted to suit the players being bought for him? I can fully see that. Bit like Amorim, ten haag and many other managers who get a bit set in their ways, the bigger isuse becomes synergy between football director and coach/manager.

But if we take what ed1 said as accurate which I have no reason to doubt, then doesn't that sound like a disconnect between Edwards and the coach?

04 Mar 2026 00:08:57
Wtf is going on? Does no one on the board have the balls to fire that fraud? These few wins have papered over the cracks. We've been shocking. Wolves rock bottom with -30 GD, absolutely laughable.

This whole "oh we'll wait till Summer" is ridiculous. The World Cup is on. Transfers will be a nightmare, pre season will be a nightmare. Just get a new manager in now and try and salvage literally anything.

Do people actually think we'll have a chance in the UCL because we finished 3rd? Spurs finished 4th.

03 Mar 2026 23:28:55
Well I have backed him until now but that is it for me.
He has got to go. Quite a few of the players need to take a serious look at themselves too.
I said on here the other day about the lack of energy and drive, it is shocking and yet another player turning their back to a shot from distance.

It is happening every game.
I can only hope that us signing a few centre halves for next season and being linked with one or two others, is a sign that Alonso is indeed taking over in the summer.

04 Mar 2026 07:19:33
Yeah, me too. I've been arguing about what LFC had had to overcome, but last night, and the style of play. Slot seems like a genuinely nice guy. I wish him all the best. Amazing what he did last season, but last night was torrid. And not for the first time.

03 Mar 2026 23:27:28
I've supported Slot so far. I believed after last season he deserved the opportunity to deal with the loss of Jota, integrate the new players, and implement his tactics and philosophy.
He has now had that opportunity and is sadly showing that he is unable to get a tune out of this squad of players.
I still believe he should get until the end of the season as we are in 2 cups and the chance at Top 5 but hopefully there are moves behind the scenes to find his replacement in the summer.

Sorry Arne, you had the longest length of rope from me but it's obvious we need a new coach with new ideas who understands how to compete in the Premier League.
Hopefully he will receive thanks and a standing ovation at the final game at Anfield but has become crystal clear that its time for Slot to move on.

04 Mar 2026 04:48:34
You must be joking, Darwin.

He must be given another 500m pounds, as this bunch of players are still not his players.

Give him another 3-year contract, let him bring in his own players, and then he may be judged.

Just a small setback in the grand scheme of things.

Boring football, overplayed with the tactics of not tackling, is going to be the next big thing in football, and we have almost perfected that methodology. We just need a few more Slot-type players, and the puzzle will be complete.

04 Mar 2026 07:20:13
@Darwins, agreed, and @JLC, love your posts.

03 Mar 2026 23:05:15
What I witnessed tonight was atrocious. I can't put into words what I saw.

I mean who told Szoboszlai he suited cornrows.

04 Mar 2026 02:29:24
A white man should never wear plats for me.

03 Mar 2026 22:42:49
Slot needs to go. Only way that happens soon is if the fans turn in the stadium. Drop this 'classy' BS, he's awful and we need to be more vocal.

Agree9

04 Mar 2026 07:20:57
Not "awful", he won the league. But, this season has also shown he isn't able to overcome adversity in a way we expect at LFC.

03 Mar 2026 22:23:41
Mac Allister is always falling down in midfield and stays down leaving the opposition room to move forward. Jones isn't much better. Wolves are going down but you would think that they champions laughing at Liverpool. Let's hope that we can wipe the laugh of their faces on Friday.

Agree4

03 Mar 2026 23:19:14
Jones is absolutely awful. Nothing as a midfielder.

03 Mar 2026 23:26:43
I would once again observe that, when you can say at least 3/4s of the team have been awful, then maybe the blame doesn't lie with the players.

03 Mar 2026 23:34:04
Let's all chip in for Regaine treatment so he can concentrate on his football and strength, and on staying upright. Oooh, he could crush a grape!

04 Mar 2026 04:49:39
You're being generous with your statement of 3/4s of the team, SR. ?

03 Mar 2026 22:22:50
Normal service resumed.

03 Mar 2026 22:22:47
Absolutely dreadful, anyone defending Slot now needs to have a long hard look at how far we've fallen after winning the league, the Forest etc results were awful but this is just unacceptable,
Players look lost, the subs were bizarre again, didn't start fighting until we were 1 down and then it was the usual gung ho,
Nothings going to change, just make the change now and let's at least see what happens with fresh tactics and guidance cause this is clearly not working as it should,
The worst thing is we should have walked this league this season, no question at all.

03 Mar 2026 22:42:11
Rum mate, we've been saying it for months, pal. Most boring football we have played in, donkeys. This type of football is so bloody boring. And it's managers like Slot that are ruining football completely. And I agree, the league was there for the taking 100%.

03 Mar 2026 23:28:11
I switched it off at half time. Said in match chat, I hadn't done that (switched a Liverpool game off because we were horrible to watch) in 20 years.

I think I was understating it. I don't think I've ever done that.

04 Mar 2026 04:53:20
The game was no different from the West Ham game either. The only difference is that we somehow scored 5 against WHU.

And, boy, were there some Slot apologists on here after the WH game.

Every game, it's the same thing: the same tactics, the same subs, the same effort, the same desire, the same s***.
